trying to make screen accurate starship trooper field cap

I've embarked on making some starship trooper mobile infantry gear . the part I'm working on now is the field soft cap , I'm trying to locate the proper patches and grey hat used . any help would be appreciated . i have a set of patches now but the mobile infantry wings i have are to big for the hat and are meant for the jacket . also what type of hat did they use ? any help would be great

I recall the caps to look like 80's-era East German mutzes, based on a similar M-43 and Bergmutze patterns dating back to WWII Germany. Don't know about the patches, but the hats and uniforms definitely have an East German flare to them.
