I just realized it was one year ago almost to the day the geniuses of the RPF were tracking down and honing in on the critical OB1 saber parts...

Step away from the keyboard and walk outside and enjoy the outdoors for a little while. :p ;)

Jeez, and I remember the entire thread like it was just yesterday...

I remember scouring through hundreds of pics of derwent engines trying to confirm the part, color coding cut-away diagrams and emailing derwent experts to see what they had to say. I'm just proud to have been a part of that thread.

It's amazing how time flies.....

Cool.

This is a great time to remember:

August 20, 2005

Howard publishes correct original handwheels. Kudos for a lot of hard work in the search, and for publishing what he found.

September 26, 2005

Blaxmyth pointed out (for the 2nd time that year) an interesting piece of a Derwent engine, and hard work by many in that thread (Chris Trevas/lonepigeon, Gigatron and PHArchivist among others) finally led to confirmation that a Derwent Mk9 balance pipe was the emitter.

Killdozer's indestructible dilligence in searching and turning up all sorts of possibilities finally paid off when he noticed that the booster attachment on the British Browning ANM2 could be the gear. After many strange twists and turns, and some nice research by Exoray and Barry, Killdozer found a source and I got to go collect some since they were close to me. :D

Simmon M--just in case you're not joking, check out the threads about these discoveries in the Archives. ;)

Heck, I even remember the discovery of the No. 3 mk. 1 back in the day, and Jediscout finding a symetrical one.
Does that make me old? :confused

Just showed my wife this thread, with a big, proud grin on my face. She read it - silently - then walked quietly away, shaking her head... :unsure

Anyone else get that sort of reaction from their spouse?

:lol

Yes.
Except my wife wanted to put the handwheels I found in our bathroom. :confused

I must admit though, over the years her enthusiasm has grown.

Howard.

Constantly :lol

I showed my original parts OWK to Mrs Killdozer the other evening... she hefted it, and said, "... so, how much?"

Suffice to say that what I felt was a relatively small expense, she thought should be in a locked safe. :unsure

And yet most women will buy a pair of Jimmy Choo's if they can afford it, which will wear out in less then a year, even if only worn during special occassions :rolleyes
