TRON: Uprising Series Discussion

I have loved the episodes so far,and they have indeed been getting better. This episode felt kinda rushed though, maybe because Tron felt a bit off character. I think he is abit more emotional than this. Also, Mara blaming the renegade felt off place too. Understandable, since she was upset about able, but i think she turned on the renegade too easy. Both Mara and Zed have encountered him after all.
Also, it bothered me intensivly that the plot felt ripped off the dark knight. (and rises by the end) I wonder if this was the ending the animators indended since one source suggest they planned out plots of the second and third season already.Might explain why things suddenly start wrapping themselves up in a hurry now that it might be ending... Though i read elsewhere it was intended for a 10 part miniseries,so i don tknow..

Liked the episode (Didn't "love" it, but then I'm a sappy sucker for a happy ending...) but I have one issue...

The "Defiant" factor.

Anyone remember Star Trek DS9 and how the new anti-Borg super ship the Defiant changed depending on who wrote the episode? One episode the thing was phaser and torpedo proof, the next episode it's disabled after one shot!

Getting back to Tron...

When Beck and Tron fight Cyrus, they get stomped! But before that... heck, Beck fights half the invading army to a standstill and Tron, even in his weakened state manages to (literally) kick ass. :)

I thought at the very least Tron would put up more of a fight against Cyrus, but instead spends the entire fight getting flipped to the floor like a first year Akido student against Steven Segall. :)

Still... I hope the series gets a second season. Hopehopehopehopehope. :)

The way that I interpreted the fight between Cyrus, Beck and Tron had to include the present circumstances.
Beck was "out of sorts", in a sense, due to his friends being kidnapped and threatened with deresolution. He couldn't focus completely on the fight with Cyrus which is why Cyrus handled him so easily. (we see Cyrus handle Beck in "The Stranger" as well).
As for Tron, it was most likely due to him being knocked out when he was kidnapped as to why he didn't fight against Cyrus the way he handled up on Dyson.
This is just all my own ideas and the thoughts I had when watching the episode the first time.

I'm gonna be SO disappointed if the Tron Uprising series ends now!

Not only did Tron not become Rinzler, but now CLU is also about to change the game!

Oh I'm going to be SO pissed if it's cancelled now.

Was it just me, or did "Terminal" remind anyone of the Indiana Jones movies...

"Recognizers. I hate Recognizers."
The part where Tron after being healed says "No. He's mine." then tells Short Ro...I mean Beck he's okay.
And the part where Beck had to "Let it go." and release Cutler.
Oh and I loved the "Yes" moment when Tron told the soldiers, "Good news. I'm healed. Bad news...I'm healed." :D
Either way, a fantastic season 1 with so much potential for season 2. Tron: Uprising better not be cancelled.

Really hoping for a season 2 myself, but I have to say, If it doesn't happen, I think we got enough information in the episode to understand how Tron becomes Rinzler, even if we don't get all the details.

About halfway through, I was seriously wondering if Beck failing to save Tron in time wasn't the plan all along. Maybe with a set up for a possible second season of Beck being in total control of the uprising, all the while battling/trying to redeem Tron.

Overall a great season, with, IMO, very few slow spots. I guess it's time to start the hoping in baby steps. First- An extras laden Blu-Ray release.

Yes, those moments did play off as familiar and I didn't connect them to Indy till you stated it. NICE!

My favorite moment also was Tron stating the "Good news, bad news". I was up out of my seat!!

With each passing day I believe less and less that we will get a second season. Without a commitment by Disney right now, the talent and production team that worked on Uprising will have to move on and find work somewhere else. So far, everyone associated with the show that has made a recent statement has said that they enjoyed their time working on the series with a wonderful team.

I'm pretty sure we wont get a second season now...I don't want to believe that but its pretty sure. I do hope that Disney gets things straight and, at least, gives us a film length feature to close up the story in a tidy fashion.
The main question everyone wants to know and has WANTED to know since Legacy is HOW DID TRON BECOME RINZLER? Answer us that and we will be satiated.

I imagine their answer would be that this episode showed how he got turned into Rinzler. This is inferred because of the way Cutler responded to the recoding. Obviously Cutler wasn't as strong as Tron and so he couldn't pull through it. I'm guessing that by showing Clu and his vast military on approach it is also supposed to imply that Tron will certainly be captured and repurposed.

That would be my guess as to what they were trying to do there.

Still sad. I don't understand why Disney, which makes tons of money in many other ways, can't afford to keep this show going if for nothing else the beauty of the artwork, and the depth of the story. Not to mention, even if the fanbase is "too small", we seem fairly fanatical. Hell, I don't know if you guys saw the video or not, but a figure skater won a Gold medal in the US figure skating Championship to the music of Legacy.

I suppose until it is made official we can always hope.

That's because they're not in it for the art, they're in it for the money and (sadly) a small fanbase just don't pay the bills, fanatical or not. Bascially, as I'm sure you're aware, networks make money off of shows primarily by selling ad time when the show airs and how much money they can charge to air a commercial and how my people want to buy air time is all dependent on the ratings since higher ratings mean more people watching and the more people watching the more likely people will buy what's being advertised on a commercial. This means that a network can charge more for their air time and more companies are interested and willing to pay the price for the air time.

While it's true that Disney makes money off of other things those other things don't balance out what they're not making out of Uprising unfortunately. I'm pretty certain that every show on a network sinks or swims on their own and it doesn't how well other parts of the network are doing, if a show is failing or not doing well then it's not doing well. I think the way the networks see it is that if a show isn't getting the ratings they'd like then they'll can it and put something else in the time slot that will, hopefully, do better. Just be grateful Uprising didn't air on FOX, they probably would have canceled it a lot earlier since they, generally, don't new shows very many chances to get the ratings they want.

Well, amazing series. I don't even want to talk about cancelling.

Two thoughts : Cyrus is not a common program, we can see that with the circuitry running on all his face. For him to have a kind of superstrengh would not be surprising, and Tron being weakened, it was easy to see who would win. Now, with a 100% healed Tron, I would not bet on Cyrus. :)

My theory about Tron being Rinzler is just a question of self-sacrifice. Tron now being at the peak of his abilities again, I don't picture him get captured unless he goes against Clu or buys time for Beck to escape. It could be a cliffhanger for season 2's finale, for instance.

Mara's changes of heart are not surprising since she was mostly sad about Able's death. If this was to be the end of the series, this finale would somehow be satisfying, since we now know how the Uprising started.

Fingers crossed !

The dvr schedule shows an episode on the 17 th.
Since mine is scheduled to only record new episodes, I'm
assuming this is an error. :)

Something interesting I've just found... On the official Tron Legacy website, there was a series of concept arts pics. One of them showed the various helmets; And, under Quorra's helmet, the name says " Paige ". So Quorra was probably named Paige at some point, and Paige went to the character we now know... :)
