Tron: Legacy, "The Digital Frontier" Book

Yeah, if this thing turns out good, I'll definitely make a few for a run, if there's enough interest of course.

Good news and bad news...

First, the several pictures of the book are my pictures. Sorry about the bad quality. They were taken with an LG Ally (3 megapixel camera). I took place in the Chicago Digital Pulse campaign. I drove clear from Peoria to take part in it.

A very friendly and super awesome guy by the name of Bruce (Bruceoite on Unfiction) beat my friend and I by mere seconds to the drop point. He overheard me say that I was from Peoria and in an act of pure awesomeness, he gave me the Digital Frontier book.

Now for the bad news...

I don't have a scanner! If I can get access to one, I will gladly scan the sleeve for you guys. In the mean time, I can take some better pictures as well as tell you any details you may want to know about the book.

I also contacted 42 Entertainment (the company who ran the ARG and gave out the 16 books) to see if these were actually from the movie. I have yet to hear anything back from them and it has been weeks since I messaged them.

Wow! Amazing that you found this thread, thanks a lot! I really hoped someone with a book would speak up haha. It's too bad you don't have a scanner, but if ou can ever access one, a scan of the cover image would be incredibly helpful.

As for questions, my only ones so far is, is there any text on the sleeve in the back of the book? I know the front one has some introduction. And I assume you got the page that was inside the book, does it have a backside? And is it the one on flynnfrontier?

Thanks a lot!!

So here is my attempt so far at the front and back covers. Reduced in size of course.

I know the font is off, I am working on getting the correct font for the text on the front cover.

Cool! I hope you know your working on the book from the ARG, the one in the movie has a slightly different back.

As for the font, what I'm doing is tracing the letters one by one in a vector program, so they can be as big as I want. It's really tedious, but its free and probably the most accurate since I can't find the real one. I'll post my progress soon

Thanks for the heads up DarthDan95. I knew they were different, but somehow did not realize just how different they actually were until you brought it up. It should be easy enough to do both versions though.

And if you don't mind sharing, where did you get the great cover picture? If you'd rather not share I understand...

oh, one more thing, I can't believe I forgot my biggest question... What are the dimensions of the cover?? This would really help. If you could, the hight, width of front/back cover, width of edge/side, and width of the inside sleeves would be great. Thanks.

The proportions of my WIP cover seem to be off so I'm wondering about these dimensions as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm interested in helping out and getting a copy of your finished efforts. I've posted a link to this thread on the UNFICTION DIY SWAG thrad to request help from any original book owners. Keep it up and let me know if i can help with any Pshop duties! G

Also, another thing, Gerald, you should also ask anyone with the books the thickness of it. Most hardback books tend to vary in their size, depending on the length of the material presented in it. If Kevin Flynn had written a book, it'd be great to know how thick the book is, so that people who are looking to make their replicas don't have one that is undersized, thus leading to either a misprinting of the cover's size or getting a book to small or too big for the cover.

This is just a suggestion of course.

That scan is really interesting, but raises more questions as to how many more differences there are between the ARG version and the movie version.

This photo of the movie version book shows proportions that seem to be really off from that scan of the ARG dustjacket (at least in terms of the spine). IMG_4015 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
