Tron: Evolution Video Game - updated Tron 2.0 or spoilers?

The game is advertised to take place between Tron and Tron Legacy. So i'm thinking, one shouldn't get spoiled right? -- This is what i've heard so far.... i haven't played the game, as it hasn't been released yet. That would be wrong.. nonetheless, google will yield plenty of information.


Minor Spoilers....







the game uses many of the Tron 2.0 games sounds, bit collection after derezzing bad guys, system corruption theme and 'upgrading' procedures.

However the 3rd person nature blended with Parkour makes it feel like Prince of Persia with glowing costumes then a bridge game between Tron and Tron Legacy.




Fairly larger spoilers:







You get a pretty intimate view of the City in the New Tron Legacy film, as you are running around, through, and in it. You also battle plenty with the 'red guards' of the Tron Legacy Film... including the dragonfly winged ones.. etc... There are many graphic effects that i'm assuming come directly from the film e.g. The original circuit body suit glows through the new motorcycle suits when recharging... holographic type cgi encompasses the disc when they are being "updated..."




MAJOR SPOILERS Below.......















With Quorra leading you around, we see the ground work for an iso / basic war? We see the installation ceremony of the new padmesque circuit suit / hindu sari wearing system administrator... We see Tron and (90's)Flynn loosing control of the system and Clu deciding to put himself in power after obtaining Sarks old red carrier... We see Zeus(?) that david bowie looking character and the end of line club..... flight cycle chases through crumbling cities with recognizers in pursuit...

anyway... it's seems more like Tron Legacy then a bridge... i imagine the end of the game leads you right up to the opening of the new film

From the vids the game and movie tie in pretty good, the movie will reference things from the game. I wish Disney and the writers would have made Tron 2.0 somehow canon because in both Flynn went missing and they could have taken place as 2.0 was in the encom system. I'm getting the game and I have high hopes that i know it won't meet (few games do anymore). I wanted the deluxe edition until i found out you're paying 70+ plus for a display stand and a light cycle and that's it on top of the 50+ for the game. I liked the 2.0 game so I'm hoping this at least isn't a total crapfest.

it's a lot like prince of persia with better aesthetics.:lol

the jumping is tedious and it sometimes completely locks the camera so you can do some side scrolling type near mario style jump combos...

getting into the battle tank is nearly worth the two hours of jumping... as you get to play 'space paranoids' except its v3.0 and completely awesome! The 'Unreal' graphics engine with daft punk's music + legacy and 2.0 sounds blended..

more of the gameplay then i expected feels like tron 2.0... especially the sounds, you can hear the 2.0 sounds in all of the right places... the dialog isn't nearly as cleaver as 2.0 though...and 2.0 is a far superior game IMHO still, which is unfortunate...

additionally, with the use of the 3rd person perspective, gone is the use of angles and bank shots when using the disk... it's been replaced with a standard 'throw' and button mashing combo's :(

how the hell is an iso and basic at odds?

lol. I probably should have waited to get it used but i get a 10.00 off coupon from amazon when it ships and with luck that will go towards my deadspace 2 preorder. I was reading reviews on the game and is it me or are game reviewers really condescending? I know most movie reviewers like to treat the audiences like idiots but the game ones took every chance they could to bash Tron and question why the movie was made let alone the game.

SADLY, from what I've read on a number of
different gaming sites this weekend the game is
supposed to REALLY suck.... :lol
 
Yeah i read it too I just hate the attitudes they have towards older franchises. Then again you have to expect that from 20 somethings and i was that way at their age lol. Disney should have hired a well known company to make this game. It goes to show you can be a huge fan and put all the right details into the game but its gonna suck if you use the wrong engine or gameplay style.
 
What sites did you look at? I find that plays a big role in the reviews. some sites are a bit more impartial than others.

My favs include Avault.com and, just recently, PC Gamer's website, which surprised me with a rather negative review of COD Black Ops. I figure any site that'll buck the "ZOMG!!! COD!!! YAY!" trend is worth checking out. Gamespot has some decent reviews if you look past the numbers sometimes, and IGN has some interesting ones too, sometimes.

Anyway, this one sounds like it'll be worth playing as a used or discounted game. Besides, I still have Tron 2.0 that I can play.
 
True i have to reinstall 2.0 on the new pc along with other stuff. I rarely go by what reviewers say until the game is out, i'd rather have opinions from real people and not folks paid to play the games. that and there are some totally horrid games that i actually enjoy lol.

my gf and friends keep telling me how lame i am for liking tron. Not my fault i like movies older than them lol. Well i'll try and enjoy the game as much as I can. I'd still love to have seen the original creators more involved in this and the movie.

Tell them to get back to you when they move beyond thinking that Justin Bieber is great entertainment.
 
lol. i actually saw a bunch of twits on youtube give a metallica video negative rep and call it **** and call bieber's stuff good quality music o.o And folks wonder why i have a poor view of younger folks lol.
 
I played the demo versions they had setup in Flynn's Arcade at both Disneyland and SDCC and the game seemed okay to me. I only tried one of the Lightcycle levels. It was a little annoying, but that's because the city was falling apart and if you didn't know which path to take, it was practically instant death. I didn't get to finish the level because the game locked the system up and they had to reboot it. I watched the combat level they had setup and that seemed like it could be pretty fun. Hey Cobalt, can you post a review when you get a few levels in? Thanks!
 
Will do. It went out in the mail today, i got the notice last night. it's funny that free shipping with amazon is supposed to take 5-9 days before it gets out the door yet they get you the tracking number for preordered games the day before and most everything else ships same day or within 2 days. Except my ex girlfriend's xbox last christmas, it arrived the next day as there is a warehouse for amazon in pittsburgh lol.
