Tribble Fur

I am sure that this thread will go to the bottom of the heap soon but would anyone know anything about the fur used to make the original Tribbles. I know that there are Tribble threads here and there and that were probably not made as nice as what you can buy today but.......is there anything out there on the fur. There are people in the know when it comes to the original tunic fabric so how about Tribbles.
I have a real interest in this as I have collected and even made a few over the years......Thanks.

God only know what they were made out of, it was not expensive I can tell you that.

I bet it was the same stuff used here! LOL......

It was just cheap stuff you can get at a fabric store. Michaels has some too, but selection varies from store to store. Sometimes it's just solid colors, if your're lucky, mixed colors. To make a decent palm-sized Tribble, you'll need a 10 - 12 inch sq. piece of fur. The original series used a figure 8 shape that they sewed up, DS9 used larger circle shape of fur and stitched all the way around the outer edge, about 3/4" spacing between stitches and 'pulled' the Tribble closed around a mound of soft foam (much like the way a duffle bag closes by pulling the chords). I've had a few original off the set Tribbles from DS9, so I know how they were made (I still own two). The other information on the TOS Tribbles comes from David Gerrold's (Writer of 'Trouble with Tribbles') book on the making of the episode. Hope this helps!

Here's a place to start for solid color Tribbles: http://www.fabricempire.com/shaggy-faux-fur.aspx
