Chris not many old schoolers building anymore..most have moved on to pursue other types of builds...
It was always about new bloods and fresh ideas...
perfect example is this image I snagged off of the Facebook...it is good for more than half naked girls and hook ups.

I'm very new here and am starting my suit. I've never built a predator before and will learn as of right now I will leave that to the experts here on this forum to help me get to my dream. I'm not new to building suits but it has been mainly armor for the 501st community. My love for the predator was seeing it for the first time at a drive in with a buddy ages ago purely by accident. Was bored driving around and had nothing better to do and ran across the sign playing tonight "Predator" sounds interesting, did not know anything about it so we said what the hell. The movie blew my socks off and have been in this love affair ever since. Yes the P1 pred is my first love, but all preds are beautiful. I may be building a P1 suit but I will add trophies and do some work to make it my own. I live in Wisconsin and I can say pred suits are rare in the Milwaukee/Chicago area so I guess I would be unique in this neck of the jungle.

This is a really nice bio , would like to see it in darker colors ..i prefer the bio's to have a darker weathered look .. Thanks for sharing this brother

I was able to meet Steve Wang down in Kentucky at Wonderfest several years back. I sat in on a video shoot he did. After the shoot he took time out to visit with us and talk about his work. He even let us play around with his suits he did for the Guyver movie. Super nice guy and extremely talented.

I think its on the same ground my husband was on when we first joined The R2 Builders Club. My hubby always wanted an R2, so that was what he was going to build. I, on the other hand, looked at the club and only saw the classic R2s being build. I told William he should do an Empirial droid so he would standout from the crowd, but he had his heart set on the "real" R2. So I said fine, you build yours, I'm doing something different. My droid got more attention... ha!!!!!

9 years later and the builders club is full of unique droids. Some are just a different color combo; others are a miss-match of other ideas. R2D2 still out ranks the unique ones, but most builders will make their second droid an original. With Predator, people are pulled towards wanting the classic look. Its what we all fell in love with growing up. Why wouldn't you want a chance to relive that feeling. Sure, being original is fun.....but nothing beats the icon.

Which I personally also don't really understand why there are soooooo many builds of the same thing ... Yes the originals are awesome, they are the reason places like this, and fans like us exist, but I don't get it, to limit yourself to what has already been done ... Why not put your own twist on things, to make it your own? That's what I had/ have in mind while I'm making my first build ... I didn't want something that you can take a measuring tape to, to make sure that it looks like the movies and I hope so far that I have accomplished that... I mean here's a Pic of the Head sculpt for the build and the concept for the Bio... wanted it to be a Bad blood Hunter (ie hunting and killing bad bloods) And In my mind, original beats the icon, because it's "yours" ... but that's just me.

my point of discussion and my own observation was to say the hobby is flooded with a bunch of clones...dude.

we ain't talking about money...we are talking about creativity...
Even the Thomas brothers who wrote predator stated they wanted a group of hunters vs a group of special forces which all would have been different given if the budget allowed it...

Everyone should have the freedom to build whatever predator they want and not be belittled for wanting to do a replica. Lets just all relax and have a good time supporting eachother. I love doing custom versions, but I'm not going to turn my nose up at anyone who wants the build a copy from the movies. Replica or unique, all predators are awesome in my book.

If someone wants to build a P1, P2, or heck...even Mr. Black, they have my full support. Build on brothers and sisters! Build on.

how is everybody doing I've been lurking around this place for quite some time picking up pointers from here and there, I am a beginner at this type of build, and have started my Pred build recently, the problem I'm facing is that I am from Guam (an island in the pacific) and we have minimal supplies/materials (sometimes none available) in terms of craft, so since i started my build I've been finding ways for alternatives (materials) I don't have much yet to show but slowly and surely i will finish my Pred....

Hi

So I was lurking for maybe 5 years. Then decided to jump in and build a suit. With no experience in anything what so ever.
My goal is a custom suit that is a evolvement of the styles out there. A piece from here a piece from there. But then adding my theme on to it.

Yes, originall i wanted the original but the more I searched the more I found, the more I liked and the more I wanted. So now even though I haven't completed one suit I have the ideas for two. The first idea has sort of been done but it will be a evolution of ideas. I'm not saying mine will be better, I'm saying I'm taking some ones dream and envisioning it through my eyes, tweaking it to my tastes. Hopefully making something I am proud off. Which will be hard as im a perfectionist and I will have bits that I pick up and critic constantly.
