Trek "Dove Grey" paint in Australia?

Hey guys...

I have been trying to track down the standard colour for some TNG props I have been building, and was wondering if anyone in Australia has found a local source for the paint locally?

If not, any ideas how to get some cans into the country? Its a pain right now, cause I have a few things that need painting, and I would love to get these finished.

In fact, lets start at the begining! Who has the correct paint code for the colour?

Any help is appreciated!

I also tried to search for Dove gray and Stone gray recently and also couldn't find anything. I ended up using Krylon Classic Gray on my TNG Dustbuster which can be found in almost any store here in the U.S. I think it's a very good equivalent. Good luck.

Did a search here in Aus, and even classic grey is not available here. For some reason, they only have primary colours here. And its a import situation.

Is it worth getting a can sprayed into a bottle, and shipped over?

I still have an old cap form the original Dove Gray can, and I color matched it a few months ago to the Krylon color "Castle Rock." It' shelved with the other grays, if you can find a store that carries it. The only one I could get it at in Oregon was K-Mart.

If you can get the paint formula, you could have some mixed up and use an airbrush, or some of those fill-your-own spray cans you can get from bunnings.

Paint formulas are available to places that tint paint.

Failing that, see if you can get a friend in the US to spray some on a swatch of card and mail it over. You can take that to a paint shop and have them computer match it.

Good luck, and let us know if you get it done. :)

Sounds like a good idea. Hmmm... Now to find a swatch...
Can anyone help out?

I have a feeling like Im going to have a heap of Dove grey paint in my future! :)

Bumping this, cause 5 years later, I find myself in the same position I was when I first posted.

Anyone know the paint codes for Dove Grey or something suitable so I can finish some Star Trek Props?

Thanks....

If you have Krylon in Australia, Castle Rock is still the best match in that brand. Dove gray is slightly warmer than the Classic Gray mentioned above (though the odd color timing in the first two seasons does give the props on screen a bluer tint than reality).

If not, what is the most widely available brand of spray paint?
