TR-595E Custom Tricorder

Seems like its traditional to share progression your tricorder, so here is where I am.

This has been a long project for me, where I have had to learn new skills in SDM assembly. HUGE shout out to Mr. Engineer who supported some basic questions and help me troubleshoot some issues due to having no experience with 555 timers.

Now that I tested the top array, time to go prep the body!

This makes me so happy.

Looks great!

Has anyone used different hinges for their Tricorders? I believe that the 80-3050 are no longer being made and only available in the US!
Love to hear some alternatives!

I think these are pretty close: Link. Worst case I can adjust the hinge cutouts to fit.

Revisiting this as someone had requested a kit. I was never really happy with the decals so I spent a bit of time over the last couple of days reworking them:

Most notably I got rid of the cutouts for the ribbed panels alongside the display. They were great in theory, but the decal was awful to try to attach as it left you with really thin strips to try to glue down. This version should be way easier, though I'm not 100% sold on the design yet. I'll make the new decals and model available on the repo once they're done.

A little bit of context - It's a build for my daughter who is going to a Nurse's convention. (Because of my own forgetfulness) I had a little less than two weeks to get it done, so the body work in particular isn't as nice as it should be.

Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to the repo. (I'm assuming it's just the one, right?)

Actually there's quite a few who have added their own modifications!

Hi, Guys,

Just an update. I have found a nice little IC which displays the status of the LiPo battery. So far, it does work but the other voltage regulator IC needs more time as it only worked with 5v instead of 3.7v. In another few weeks or so, I would be able to confirm if the new design works. This Top Panel PCB, which serves as the central power distributor for other Boards, would be v04. V03 will not be released.

But a word of caution. The board is quite densely populated and so, you will either have to use the reflow method or, lots of flux with a pencil tip solder bit.
