I love this trailer, and I'm excited for the movie. And as much as I like the original motion picture imagining of the classic PKD story, I'm not married to it. The thing that bugs me is that Farrell is just too good-looking to be a PKD Everyman Hero. He should be some average schlub. I wouldn't go so far as to say Zach Galifianakis should have been cast, but when CF busts out the martial arts, it's not unexpected like it would be with ZG.

Total Recall is one of my top 5 fav films of all time, so I am not thrilled it's being remade. It won't be the same without Arny, Rachel, Sharon, Ronny, and Michael. And Priscilla Allen, the exploding-head fat lady. I can still hear her saying "two weeks" as if it was just yesterday.

Well, sure, I can take shots from any action movie and cut them in a way that matches the new total recall trailer.

Except for the ones where the actors are speaking the same lines.

The first impression I got from the trailer was "I've already got this movie on DVD downstairs". They're not exactly going to lengths to separate it from the original. A remake/update is one thing, but this almost looks like they're using the same script and shot list.. that's just lazy.

Needless to say, I have no desire to see this film.

Will the new movie have a receptionist who is preoccupied with changing the colours of her nails? That is a small detail from the "We can remember it for you wholesale" that got into the Verhoeven movie.

Anyway. I can't remember how many times I have seen the movie. For me, at least, this is a classic, and maybe the best movie that Arnold has ever made.

I think that it would be appalling if the new movie isn't at least different in a major plot detail and was in some way more original to the short story.

2. PKD
3. Jessica Biel
4. Kate Beckinsale

I think that about covers it.

No, she's playing the role that Sharon Stone played in the previous film. (IMO)

EDIT: Yep, looks like the character's name is the same (Lori)...

Beckinsale is playing both sharon stone and michael ironside in this. She's talked about it in interviews.

You know I see a lot of negativity on here about it. That's fair. I'm still gonna go see it cos I loved the original and it looks like a pretty well-done remake. I'm excited.
