It seems like it is the classic Total Recall story minus Mars with a little Bourne Identity vibe to it, set in a Blade Runner universe.

So I just watched a blurb on Entertainment Tonight on Total Recall.
Yes it seems to be a remake of the Verhoeven film. Kate Beckinsale is the updated Sharon Stone. Jessica Alba is "Melina."
It actually looked surprisingly good. I'm hoping they do lean a little more toward the book with the "is it reality or a dream" angle.
But what I really want to know is: will there be a three breasted chick? :love :love

I loved it! I watched it a few times now and it is very Blade Runner-esc...police spinners, the Rhino style gun looks like an upgraded version of the Decker special and I think it has 2 triggers in a shot. There is the Asian decor, Asian style umbrellas, the look of the city scape...all very nice. It has a real PKD feel to it all. I am so looking forward to this. The white troopers with black face masks look like the Sith troopers in the original Star Wars KOTOR video game BTW. Also look at the bar shot, the glass and the bottles are Blade Runner style.

I just saw the trailer for this yesterday, I was strongly in the "remake : Hater" camp before I saw the trailer. I have been swayed, it looks like they really put some effort into the design and aesthetics, I'm not a big Collin Farrel fan, but he looked pretty solid, the inclusion of Jessica Beal, Kate Beckinsdale and Bryan Cranston was a surprise, hopefully they wouldn't sign on unless it felt like a solid film.

I got the Inception vibe from the trailer too, but I think that was mainly due to the music used.
The "BWAAAHHHHHHH" sounds are very Hans Zimmer like.

i wouldn't pull out the party poppers just yet people. the trailer while exciting gave off a very greyish, dull feel to it. Since they are not on Mars, I guess thats the design they are going with.
But I wonder what the soundtack score will be like. The 1990 movie's score is embedded into my head, so i don't know if i can escape it easily.
And is Bennie in this movie? the taxi driver who wished he had 3 hands?
