A while back, I was asked to create a full scale model of Richard Datin's 1/4 scale 1701 proof model. The client sent a 1/350 Unobtainium model to work from. This model's stats and deconstruction were photographed and posted here for the owner:

After a few days of deconstruction and stripping, it was determined that the model was unsalvagable. Another more accurately shaped and better engineered model would have to be fabricated to replace the micro ballon filled resin Unobtainium parts. The fabrication of components and construction are shown here:

For an in depth photo survey of the parts started from easily recognizable modeling materials (wood planks, styrene sheet, tubing, varied epoxy putties) showing each step of converting and shaping those materials into the highly recognizable and familiar components of the original 1701, please click the link that is within the first post of the forum link to be taken to these detailed construction steps and techniques. You will have to sign or log in to view those images and read the accompanying write-ups.
For just the basics showing completed or near completed parts, the first link will contain those images as things progress.
Please keep in mind that at the time of this posting what is shown is still very early in the parts fabrication stage. In the detailed construction thread all steps of creating this model will be shown upto it's conclusion of a Second Pilot 1701 version starship.
Thanks for looking and Enjoy!
