TOS Phaser Paint help

Hello to all...I'm new to this forum and have read many great threads since being here. I'm in the process of purchasing a Roddenberry.com phaser kit and have seen many threads as to what colors to use to paint it. So far this is what I have compiled.

P1 Hand Phaser - Dark Gray (Testors Model Master #96404 "India Ink" is an almost exact match for the
Hand Phaser paint) or black

Rust-Oleum also makes a Dark Gray automotive primer that is a very close match to the Zynolite Dark
Gray for the Hand Phaser. Wal*Mart should have this or can get it.


P2 Pistol Body - Medium Gray (Testors Model Master #96434 "Troubled Sky" is an exact match for the
Shadow Gray Pistol body paint)

Testors Model Master "Panzer Gray" is a match for the usual Krylon Shadow Gray most use for the Phaser
Pistol body. I've seen some variation in shade so I'd buy a couple cans if you can find it.


P2 Pistol Body Handle - Bronze - Michael's has a paint called American Accents Designer Metallic
"Aged Bronze". It comes in a box but it is a single can, not one of those two-part paint sets.

Or Wal*Mart usually has the Rust-Oleum "Metallic Bronze."

Either one is the paint for the handle...they are the exact same paint.


The problem I'm having is those Model Master part numbers #96404 and #96434 are coming up as invalid. So I'm figuring these are either outdated or discontinued. Now my Roddenberry Phaser has yet to arrive so I don't have any painting reference.

So I need some help with some current info as to what colors are accurate to paint my Phaser once it arrives.
