Tombstone Val Kilmer / Doc Holliday Costume

I'd been following this thread for a while just because I like the Wild West and clothing from this era in general (I'm currently working on a couple Guy Ritche Sherlock Holmes outfits and the 2013 Lone Ranger) but I finally watched the movie last night and you've really done a great job here. The costuming was incredible, and seeing your recreations makes me wish I could grow a proper mustache so I could cosplay Doc too!

Thank You Cameron1138 We have just really started on our Tombstone collection so what you are seeing on here are either prototypes or just stand in items. I’m pretty sure the only thing we have done for this movie so far is Doc’s duster and a few of his ties. We are going to recreate everything Val wore in the movie to our very best ability, so hold on tight

IIRC some of the screen worn costumes for Kurt & Sam had Nathan's & Berman rental labels in them and one jacket I saw had an Italian maker label in it.
And interestingly one of Doc's ties had a label on it from being used in an old 50's British production of Jekyll & Hyde.

My interest started literally the day after I saw it in the theater, December 25th 1993. I started writing to Western Wear companies, holster makers, anyone I could find in the backs of magazines trying to find out more about the movie. I ended up getting a gun magazine that year that had an article in it called "The guns of Tombstone" and it was all about Caravan West Productions and had some great pics of the stuff used in the movie. From there I called Peter Sherayko. Had many conversations with him off and on for years and then kept in contact for a long time on Facebook.
Also through Facebook I was able to have many conversations with Joe Porro. (Turns out he still has Charlton Heston's silk wild rag "somewhere" in his closet. LOL. I even got to talk to Tomas Arana "Frank Stilwell" on Messenger a couple of times. When I went to Tombstone on 2006 I got to see a real screen used pair of Powers Booth's "Curly Bill" boots that were in a glass case at Spangenberg's Gun Shop. They even opened the case and let me examine them & take pictures. The boots were still stuffed with newspapers from 1993. I also visited Mescal & Old Tucson Studios that year. Pretty cool stuff. 'Tombstone' has been part of my life for over 30 years now and my interest is still there.

JohnHolliday I would like to formally introduce Cameron1138 , one of the only OTHER costume builders I follow. Out of a handful of folks that really just crush it on each project, Cameron1138 is that level. Although he is too modest to claim it. I say this to let you know what kind of compliment you just received on your Doc work and from whom it came.

Now that is COOL I myself have never been to Tombstone, but when my wardrobe is complete, I am heading there I too tried finding out anything I could after seeing the movie, but my findings were way less than yours. After doing the whole life thing I finally decided it was my time for Tombstone. I have talked to anybody that will talk to me (which includes Peter Sherayko). I have reached out to Joesph (on Facebook) but had no such luck. I have talked to Michael Biehn and Val Kilmer plus a few other people that worked on the movie. One person (Jake) remade the holsters (for stunts and backups) and was kind enough to give us the patterns so we could make our own holsters. I also have talked to a person that was making clothing for the movie, but she didn't do any of the main characters stuff.

Some girls saw me in front of the Bird Cage Theater and asked who I was so I replied "Today I'm Doc Holliday!" And they got their pictures taken with me. LOL

As I have mentioned to all of you guys following this thread, the worst part of me working on this project is the wait. This summer we have taken in a lot of orders for our product which is a really good thing, but it is also a double edged sword as when we are making customers orders, we don’t get to work on new products. Since we are making sure are customers come first, I decided to put this outfit together which I call “Bringing Debbie Home”. Yes, I know know that it doesn’t pertain to Doc, put a guy has to do something until we can get back to doing what I love

The more I've been thinking about doing this cosplay and the more pics I keep seeing, the more I'm tempted to try it anyway. Are you going to be putting any of your custom fabrics up for sale (or at least will you have any remnants you can sell)? I remember you said something about making your own version of the red vest fabric.
