Tomb Raider Reborn Prop progress

Very nice work on the ensemble! A tip on the pistol- I'd go with a WE metal 1911, if it were me. 1.) they're cheap for being metal Gas Blowbacks, 2.) they have heft to them, but aren't excessively heavy like steel would be. Here's one you could modify:

Evike.com Airsoft Guns - Airsoft Guns | Evike.com Airsoft Guns - Gas Airsoft Pistols | Evike.com Airsoft Guns - WE / CQB Master | Evike.com Airsoft Guns - WE Newest Version Full Metal 1911 Military Airsoft Gas Blowback |

It's nice.. but that's the Military model 1911 just like what I've already got. If I'm going to change it out, I'll want to go with Roth's Remington 1911R1 Tactical. I will prolly end up ordering a Blue Gun of it... they are so much lighter weight than steel yet are solid which feels better in the hand than airsoft.

I just don't want the weight of steel... I have TOO many things on the belt to have the weight of a metal gun in there too.

Hello again, all...

Just a quick progress update. I've worked out my Shotgun and holster which attaches directly to my sling using the same metal clip that my quiver uses.

The Airsoft Sawn Off Shotgun was purchased on ebay
MOD EDIT: Please do not post ebay links, thanks.

Hey,

I've been looking at your photos (in costume) over and over feeling perplexed as to why it's not working for me...

...and I've just figured it out. YOU need to be dirty. You've done such an AMAZING job distressing everything, that you also need to be "distressed." :)

I think that will really make it sing!

BTW: LOVE the shotgun!

Mois... well, yes. Once I have the outfit complete and am ready for Photoshoots and Cons I'll be dirtying myself up too. But that bit is easy :p

Hello again, everyone...

What follows are shots from my first outdoor test of the outfit. There is still quite a bit to do, but I wanted to see how everything looks in an environment OTHER than my home! :p

Here goes...

Someone asked me to try to recreate this shot from the Concept Art:

And as parting shot, the view of Lara we see all throughout the game...

Brilliant :D I love the two handed running pistol shot :D I had a real flashback to the games in the 90s. (Hey forgive me - I haven't seen this game yet! ;) )

I really did want a few that didn't look so "posed"... so i just started manouvering from cover to cover and forced the photographer to follow me. :p

He protested a bit, but I told him that this view from behind is the way that she is seen in the game most of the time anyway.

Yes that's another reason that I did it. I put so much work into getting the right pouches and whatnot... it would have been a shame to only have front shots and have them go unseen.

I really have to agree with Trooper Trent, and say its a shame how you can't compliment amazing work without coming off as a creep. Well here it goes, amazing work!!!! The attention to detail, time taken, and commitment is nothing short of phenomenal. My daughters are getting more I to cosplay, and I can't wait to show my older one your build as inspiration.

Looking at your pics again, I have a tiny suggestion. (NB I have never attempted a prop build, I am merely a fan of prop builders, if that makes sense?)

You bandages are correct, in the sense that they are in the correct position, and wound correctly - but that doesn't show, because they haven't been given the same (excellent) attention as, say, your holster - even though they are just as important to "the look" (perhaps more so, as a holster is an "item" but the bandage "tells the story"). I think you should gently colour the edges of the bandages you use (a little airbrushing), so that when they are wrapped you can see the edges of the wrapping. At the moment, they blend into one band as they are too clean (which might be what you want for a bandage ;) , but not for a costume).

EDIT: Woo Hoo - 20 posts! :)

You changed your make-up from your test shots because you look more like Lara Croft in these newer pics.

All your weathering looks great, the details really take this costume from good to excellent.

Yes.... the bandages are going to get dirt and blood ground into them for the final product. It will be the same with cuts and dirt on my skin. At this stage I'm really trying to assess the effectiveness of the props and the clothing in a "real" setting.

I'm getting down to the nitty gritty now, so I expect I'll be turning my attention next to blood and dirt on me and my bandages.

well thank you. Gosh... I wasn't conscious of having done my makeup differently... perhaps it's a result of the outdoor lighting vs. indoor?

Hey everybody....

i managed to mostly complete the outfit, so i took it to the Motor City Comic Con in Detroit last weekend. Here's a few shots of me with various people...

YES!!! I could not believe how awesome he was. I'm 5'8"... so he had to be 7 feet... and he wasn't wearing platforms either. Absolutely FIRST CLASS Vader! His name is Michael Parent.
