Tomb Raider Reborn Prop progress

You make a great LC! I am loving the attention to detail, the distressing came out really well. will you be working on the axe?

Have to agree with both parts, awsome LC, and I always like to see good attention to detail and you are certainly doing that, I look forward to seeing the final outcome :D

Woohoo! Your costume is looking awesome! I'm not going to lie, I'm kinda jealous of how your quiver came out. What material did you use? (I'm thinking mine looks too stiff...)

LOVE your holster. It's got such a great worn look to it. What kind of leather did you use?

And lucky you finding Timberland Charles boots that actually fit! I couldn't find nuttin'! Then again, I do so love my Timberland Dusseldorf's. I just need to bring my pants down over the tops a little bit more.

But so far, you're looking stunning!

(PS - Thanks for the shout-out, that was very kind. :) )

This costume is amazing looking, can't wait to see the final weathered look. Hope that ice axe comes soon... the weather here in michigan doesn't look like it's warming up anytime soon, you may need it lol

You are so awesome! <3

I used a canvas bank money bag for my quiver! I lined it with an old table runner (because it was thick, and I didn't want it no more :p) and then i just used spray paint to age it before putting the cord around it.

The holster is an old WWII USGI shoulder holster. All i did was add a leg strap to it and clip on a mag pouch!

A money bag, eh? Interesting. I think the bottom of your quiver may need some more reinforcement. The top and middle look fantastic, but the bottom looks a little loose (it should be a bit stiffer). Just an observation.

Your holster really does look amazing!

Hey...! I'm in Michigan, too! What a small, small world :p

Hmmmm..weird. ironically, the bottom is the stiffest part because i have that floral arrangement stuff in there. But since it isn't all full up with arrows yet I think it looks funny.

The holster is *meh*... I like it overall, but the belt is too narrow, and has the wrong hardware. At the least I may replace that... if the holster guy doesn't come up with something either (A) better or (B) cheap or (C) both. LOL

Hey all...

Here's a quick look at what I've come up with so far distressing my tank tops.

The dark band around the top of the Grey tank was done with a 60% Cool Grey Prismacolour Marker (got that tip from a very special fellow Lara cosplayer that I know called TheLadyNerd.)

I still have a bit more dirtying up to do, but it looks way better than in my test shots!

The front:

And the Back:

Hee hee.. there are a pair of quivers chillin' on the table in the background, too :p

My overall necklace length is 30". But as you can see from the picture, I've made mine in a different way than she did.

Lara's is braided outward from each side of the pendant, not just dangling from it freely. So that necessitates that one side of the necklace will be significantly shorter than the other. this is so that one side wraps around your neck fully and returns to the back, while the second goes right back to the back of your neck and the two are joined there with a standard clasp.

Of course you *can* make it out of one long piece, dangle the pendant from it, and wrap it round twice and tie it. but I've found that method doesn't work so well because what happens is the heavy pendant pulls itself down, tightening the smaller loop around your neck while the longer one hangs disproportionately farther down. It's very difficult to keep the balance of the two the same if you just use one piece, which is why I did mine this way.

In any case, about 30" finished length should be good. She had mentioned that hers was too long for her anyway, and she's much thinner than I am so you shouldn't need 40"

A couple of updates for you all...

I've been working on my ice axe, and wanted to show how far I've got:

First, the raw state:

SUPER amazing for a resin cast! These gals know what they're doing :D

IMG_20130401_220444_zps6a56c95c.jpg

This came from JennCroft and Shona Heath. It was super good, except that the heat in transit warped the pick and adze terribly. This was NOT their fault however... it's just the nature of resin. But it's all good, cuz I made myself this out of Sintra to replace it:

So then I put it all together, and started doing this to it:

There is still much distressing to do.. but it's getting there!
