angelina is not involved. and yes. (surprise, surprise). its a prequel.

I hope they do some major improving as it was never that good as series to me, it always felt like their ideas were ahead of what the machines could do when it first came out.

I actually think a rebbot is a good idea in this case. Just could'nt get into the movies, although Jolie was nice to look at...she just was not right for the part. Hopefully someone can really make a decent Tomb Raider film this go around.

Since I already think movies based on video games are what I'll be forced to watch in hell, I'm not surprised that they found a way to further denigrate the art of cinema. A reboot of a movie based on a game. Written by a crackhead and starring an illiterate. Or vice versa. In 3D.

Maybe I should wait for the novelization of the reboot of the movie based on a video game. I bet it'll be awesome.

If it is a "reboot" then it does not seem like a "prequel", it is a reboot that is the origin story. A prequel (to me) implies it is related to the storylines in the other films and this one does not seem to be.
Regardless glad they are making it. The old ones were fine but both went into a magical world too much at the end, they need to be grounded stronger in reality (same issues I had with the Indy movies).

I've played every game since the start, I am a fan of the character. Lara Croft can be a great character, let's not be too snooty that she came from a computer game, properly handled there is great potential.
That hasn't happened yet and the odds are probably against it.

I hope they redo it. I loved the video games but I can't stand AJ and don't think she was very Lara Croft. I always thought Sienna Guillory from Res. Evil Afterlife looked just like the video game Lara and would be great to see her do it.

The Tomb Raider movies IMO were steaming piles of Bantha fodder so at least they're finally rebooting the types of movies they should be, bad ones.

Oh, I'm getting snooty! The only thing worse than movies based on video games are movies based on toy franchises from the 80s. So when I'm in hell watching DOOM, at least I'll have the comfort of knowing that Hitler is watching GI Joe.

Lara Croft I think is far above simple gaming characters or a toy line.
She got kick started on PC gaming, not sure when consoles got her.
A bit more complex then running Mario around, the games have cut
scenes and there is character development.
It wasn't just press start and run Mario around different levels.
There is a Jame Bond/Indiana Jones familiarity going on there.

Lara Croft is kind of a female Indiana Jones to me. But both movies were terrible. The original videogame can be considered a classic but rest are so so at best. I'm interested in the new game and movie but I don't think the people in charge know how to make the character cool. Part of me would like to see Rhona Mitra try out for the role since she was the first or second "official" Tomb Raider model.
