Woah, everything looks cool. Might try my hand at a similar bodysuit build if you dont mind?
Absolutely, I can't wait to see what you've come up with. Everything I've done on here is an idea borrowed from what someone else is done, so by all means take a stab at it yourself. I'm sure it will look great.
A kinda/Sorta update:
I've been working my balls off in the real world and today is my first day off since Thanksgiving, I've also unfortunately had to deal with the loss of my best friend Mika. She was the greatest dog a guy could ask for.
I think I've been working more to help keep my mind off of her loss. She hated costumes and I loved torturing her, so I had a Tracker Dog Costume idea planned for her which would have made her a real member of the lair as well, but I'll have to put that one on hold for now. Anyway, enough of that, update time!
Got my head molded in Ultra Cal:
Cleaning the clay out of those mandibles was an absolute b*tch and the cleaning pull didn't do as much as I would have liked, so I spent a few more hours digging out clay and have a proper pull dwelling right now.
The cleaning pull was super thin and had a lot of airbubbles but here's a sneak peak
I stippled a layer of Latex onto both halves of the mold this time before pouring and slush casting a layer in. My hope is that it will eliminate the airbubbles. I might do one more slush layer but am definitely going to foam fill the crown before pulling this copy.
I also learned, breathing sucks in here. Which I'm sure comes as no surprise. So i may cut away a hole in the top of the mouth and put in ventilated fabric before painting to allow some air in.
A few more crappy realizations:
The hands I was planning to use are being difficult and the right hand is a bit too small, so it's difficult to get off an on. I made an executive decision to try something else. I picked up Latex Monster gloves from Value Village and a pair of exercise/weight lifting gloves from walmart. I'm going to paint the hands and probably cut a hole in the top of the exercise gloves but here's how they look now:
I'm going to make some quick feet using the Mr. I method on a pair of cheap walmart slippers. I was going to use some big boots and build shin armor onto them and possibly give myself some lift- But I'm already pretty huge and these are comfy and quick.
I'm going to cut the shape of the toes out of upholstery foam, latex them onto the slippers and make a mock sandal top on the top of the foot. That's about as good as it's going to get for now.
I bought some Hockey Shin Pads for cheap and am going to paint them hammered silver for now. I'd love to put some armor designs on with foamies and such but only if time allows. That may be a project for further down the line.
I also learned that my wooden snake dreads may not work as well as I was hoping. I had some issues with my first tests which you can read about here:
http://www.thehunter...ttle-different/
I'm planning on doing some more testing with those but I for the time being I may have to go with the backer rod method. I bought some and cut it to size. I think I want to put wire in them to hold their shape and spray them with plasti-dip. We'll see how it works.
I'm heading out to work on things for the rest of the day. Finish any foam work I have to do and any last layers of latex so that everything can be paint ready for tomorrow evening. Then a couple nights of painting and hopefully I'll have a wearable costume by friday.
