Todd's Costumes New Downtowner Indy Fedora

Here is Todd's new Indy Downtowner Hat. It is very stiff...just like a cowboy hat, and comes pre-bashed. The bash is nice, and the quality seems good. Nice leather sweat, and satin liner with the Coyle's logo. Overall, a very nice, affordable Indy hat right out of the box. Just know, that this is not a floppy hat at all....very, very stiff, but nice.

Sorry for the blank look...

This hat runs about $100, and it seems very nice. The stiffness will take some getting used to, but I really like. Todd tells me the 'Uptowner' will be really nice, and very affordable.
Oh, and thanks Wackychimp!

For the price, it's a nice hat. As I said, I'm used to floppy Indy hats, but this one is really cool, and it looks the part well. I know that Todd spent a lot of time getting this hat made, and he did a really great job with it.

Todd walks on water as far as I'm concerned. I've never had anything less than great products and great customer service from him.

I didn't even know he was working on a new hat offering, but considering his previous options were Herbert Johnson's inconsistent and overpriced hats and the genuinely awful licensed hats I can see the benefit of a hat he was in complete control over.

Now, all he needs to offer is pants, and he'll be a one-stop Indy Shop!

My only gripe is I ordered a hat band from him that cost a couple of bucks. I was charged 8 bucks for shipping when all he did was throw it in a letter size envelope and slapped a first class stamp on it..... :unsure

Okay, you found the chink in his armor, I'll admit it. His automated shipping set up on the website sucks for small items or combined shipping. In either instance you're definitely getting screwed on postage.

Now that we're on the topic of Todd's stuff, I have a few questions about the boots he offers but I don't want to hi-jack. Let me know if I should continue or start another thread. :$

Thanks, WC, for pic hosting!

Not bad, maybe a little tall, and that ribbon could be better. As for stiffness, you can work that out with your hands if you want.

Is the brim small or is that a trick of the angle of the photo?

You'd think for a hundred bucks he could include a decent ribbon. Although oddly, it looks much better in your first posted pictures than the side by side comparison.

The flash washed the color of the ribbon a bit. It's a nice ribbon, just not as dark as the Henry. The brim isn't small...standard dimensional cut for an Indy hat. As far as working the stiffness out, I don't think you'd want to. This hat is cowboy hat stiff. Even Todd said it would likely crease the felt. It feels a bit odd to be wearing such a stiff hat after wearing my Henry for so long, but when I pass by a mirror, I definitley see the Indy hat. This really is another great offering from Todd. The Uptowner should be really nice. Now, if he would just do some pants!

Just thought I'd show you guys what this hat looks like after a few months of steady wear. I also used this in a little fan movie some friends and I made for my youth group...so it has seen a bit of adventure from the Oregon coast to the Cascade mountains...a bit of rain, lots of sand and dirt, and plenty of sweat.

Overall, I'm still very impressed with the hat.
