Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Haha there was a art gallery that had a party where 7 of the art designers of the film were there. The book is signed by all 7.

Hated the Hatters costume (sorry guys!) but I loved the White Queens Soldiers :)

Savvy - your work is simply outstanding. I check your threads from time to time and am always impressed with the level of detail and quality you put into your costumes - heck, I feel like the word 'costume' is almost vulgar when commenting on your stuff, because it's really more like movie-quality wardrobe!
Bravo!
Now make us all the hat!

Yes the hair and make up is a little over the top and we can thank Mr. Depp for that just as we can thank him for adding a second belt, so many hair thingies, and danglies to Jack!!!

I am more fond of using the Funny Man wig but in the process of working on a new more orange colored wig.

Yea I had read that on a thread here somewhere so thats why i thought its unfair that anyone marks the costume down for those features :) The funny man wig is much better!Even though i dislike the costume that doesnt mean I cant see the amount of detail and effort you guys have put into yours :thumbsup

I might gave the white solider a go when i get chance prehaps (the one with the Knights head has enough detail to hide eye slits in!).

I could see a Rook costume for the White Queen. You could make the head portion and body portion out of art foam. Easy to shape and would be very lightweight to wear.:love

I'm in the process of putting together the White Rabbit for my son. He wants this costume just so he can carry around a pocket watch! Ahh...to be young!

The Red Queens card soldiers are more suited to most people due to their large inhuman frames but the tiny waists of the White Queens chess pieces suits my 28" waist perfectly! Of course the chess pieces are also modular so you can have a fair few costumes aswell just by changing the heads!

Would love to see the white rabbit when finished :)

OOOoooh! It looks BEAUTIFUL!!! I love the Sweeney one put together by the same author so I'm absolutely entirely out of my mind excited for the Alice one. :D

Thanks for the sneak peek!

I was hoping to put some sort of spazzing/twitching emote here but there just wasn't one that suited how that image makes me feel. So I'll do this:
{{{{ }}}}} <--- spazz lines

I....need....them!!!!!! AAAAAAAH!

In other news, WEATHER IS NICE HERE IN CANADA! So excited for a pretty garden photoshoot as soon as there are actually flowers, now.... :)

Woo hoo! My french netting/russian veiling ( are they the same thing? ) came today for my new and improved RQ sleeves. I've slowly been collecting supplies to re-vamp the costume for a photoshoot this summer, so I'm quite excited. It's nice stuff, too, because it's very soft and flexible where I heard a lot of the birdcage netting ( ok, that's 3 names I've called it...this is what happens when I try to use terminology ) is really stiff and almost bendable. Not this stuff! It's great. Can't wait to put it to use after I find a nice gold for the actual sleeves instead of the yellow that I currently have.

...

That's the only update I have right now...I'm STILL on the hunt for any kind of striped sheer material that I can cut to have 5 stripes for Alice's RQ Court dress. :( I found some actual curtain fabric that has some stripes in it but it's not exactly what I wanted...It may have to suffice in the end, though.

Movie update! Alice is at 1/2 billion dolares!!! :confused

Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" pulled off an impressive three-peat win at the weekend boxoffice, with the 3D fantasy ringing up an estimated $34.5 million in its third domestic session.

The Johnny Depp starrer posted a modest 45% dip from its previous session for a 17-day tally of $265.8 million. Launched simultaneously in many foreign markets, "Alice" has fetched $565.8 million in worldwide coin to date.

If I remember seeing correctly, I think Alice shattered opening weekend expectations which means blew Avatars opening weekend gross out of the water.

And it's yet to be released in 35% of the foreign market!!!

I JUST got home from seeing it for a 4th time! LOVED IT! It had been too long. :lol

Noticed a couple things...when the Hatter has his grey coat, his striped sock is brown, white and red and the orange sock is blue. His hat in the flashback, not that this really matters for costuming, is actually gone. The hat he finds is the one that's atop the pole-dancer pole. I thought that was a neat hidden little thing...

And any time the hat is CG, the patch under the hatpins is the striped one and the area where the striped one is supposed to be is plain ( except for when the Chess wears it, it's like marble colours ).

A bunch of Alice things I noticed as well, like her curtain dress is actually made from curtains in the RQs throne room. LOVED that!

And Stayne's eye patch is only black when he's on missions apart from the RQ, anytime she's near or he's in the castle, it's red. Innnnnneresting.

Goodness, I LOVE this movie.
