Tiger & Bunny Suit (armored ver. WIP)

Otie> I used Plasti-Bond filler compound. It's pretty tough stuff! I'm now down to 150grit sandpaper in the sanding stage and it's turning out pretty smooth. Gonna give it a coat of primer to figure out the little places I need to fill in. And I didn't fill in the empty space with bondo, I papermached a base shape, then bondo'd over :)

Anyways, here's the jetpack so far! I've built the base out of styrene and mounting board.

And here's the prototype helmet that I made before I scrapped it to refine my work.

everything is just pinned in place right now. got to get some edges cleaned up and straightened out a bit before i start in with the pvc.

also can anyone tell me why i'm not getting a pic when i url the pics from my flickr account? i'm very new to this flickr thing and i don't like attaching the photos. its clumsy and takes too long.

When you click on share, you need to paste the BBCode when you want to insert a pic into your post.

Also, did ya get the email I sent with the refs? :)

are you just doing it all out of foam?

I'd like to get started but really wish I could get a pepekura file for bunny.
I mean... sure i could just do it all by hand. but i really want to try the pepekura stuff because I have never done anything that way.

just testing to see if it works this time

@ Dei- i got your email, and thanks a ton for the support, but strangely enough, the downloads wouldn't work. something due to a "too many redirect" error. i dunno. im not very tech savy as you can tell

@Otie - ya, im going to make it mostly out of foam with a couple of key exceptions, I'm going to vac form the shoulder domes/ forearm guards, plus anything that supposed to glow will probably be either el tape, LED, or tinted clear casting resin. again, im not very tech savy, plus im working on a mac (don't ask why), which doesn't run pepakura, so i do everything the hard and or long way. im hoping to change that this summer when i pick up a new laptop, and have enough free time to get aquainted with all these neat gizmos like design and imagine rendering software, as well as pepakura.

I really don't want to go at it all foam haha. but I may end up doing it the same way :[ with a few other materials in there.

I keep putting it off in hope that a pep file will show up haha.
Until then, I'll just keep working on other projects

Hm, I sent it in a zip file, it should be okay to download. I'm gonna resend it again.

Currently designing a dry-ice containment system for the jetpack which will let it vent CO2 gas to make it seem like I'm preparing to lift off :) Plans are done, but I won't be able to work on it till November, sadly. Gonna focus on finishing up the other parts first.

>Dei, i wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm sure I'm just being retarded. but thanks anyways. i found a couple of pretty high res shots just recently, and i think the only thing i really need to get a better look at is the jet packish thing on his back. other than that i think im pretty set. the next hurdle i have to get over is how do i translate what i have into pieces that will let me wander, sit, and use the facilities in. preferably with some kind of ease.
that dry ice idea is brilliant. i can't wait to see how that turns out.

>otie, ya if you can figure out an easier way of doing this, say through pep, then i highly recomend it. if it was for the fact i have a year to make this thing look good, i'd be doing the same.

also, if you guys are going to dragon con next year, we should do a photoshoot or something together. it would be pretty ballin to get the entire cast of TnB for photos, and im sure there will be a ton of people doing TnB. it seems to be all the rage these days.

Totally up for a shoot if I can make it for Dragoncon next year!

In the meantime, gonna be getting a friend to help with the LEDs on the helmet. A pair for the fin, and another pair for the ear pieces. If I can get them to pulse, that'd be awesome.

I'm just gonna hold off starting till I can either find or get someone to make some pep files.

oh god that suit looks unbelievable. what on earth did your friend make that out of? i was going to make mine out of EVA foam but that looks too amazing to be made out of that stuff.

yeah. its the same material that we use here - rubber. I think EVA foam is similar &/or minocell L-200. :) freehand. :)

thats freeking awesome. has a bit of ironman in it, but reminds me of the Cast's from Phantasy star.

can i get a copy of those for the pep site? i would also love to make them.

okay, after following a similar process that goldy uses, i've reached the step where im about to cover the EVA foam, but im kinda at a loss as to what to use. there is some vinyl at my local shop but im not sure if the colours are quite right, and it all has this slightly leatherish look to it. none of it is just smooth. any recomendations?

Ooh, a tiger&bunny thread! ^^ love the show, gonna make my Tiger suit hopefully with rubber or the goldy method

Love this thread. Havn't seen the show yet but I still have followed this thread since it was first started :) . Great job!

Blarg> I'd recommend getting some from eBay if you can't find the texture/look you're going for. Have you tried sourcing some from more fabric suppliers?
