Tiger & Bunny Suit (armored ver. WIP)

You'd normally build the foam up first by stacking it together. Glue everything together by using shoe glue/super glue, then cut down 2 levels into the foam with a cutting knife/blade. This is where you'll glue your shoe! It should fit snugly into the hole that you've just cut out. Basically, everything after that is carving the foam away and disguising it under the armor :)

My friends and I were dying to do this build, but no one ever got around to doing it. Now I sort of want to pick it back up, thanks to this thread. You guys are all great, big shout out to Crimson! Does anyone have Bunny's armor pep files?

That's a very interesting idea. I'm going to catalog this in my brain for future use.

I've begun to collect EVA foam for my suit. Figured I may as well start collecting supplies. Anyone else have any progress?

I had some progress on resining a few pieces and bondo on my helmet, but I left my stuff outside to dry and it rained -_____________-.................. but it's okay, the resin kept most of it safe except for the parts that I only put a thin coat on. I just have to wait for my stuff to dry now :(

Damn.. thats rough.. I'd probably start throwing stuff at that point.. Stuff other then the project that is.

Yeah, I was too tired to be mad. Everything is fine now, all dry. I,m actually gonna try to finish the helmet tonight so I can bring it to Daicon this weekend, but I'm going to alter the helmet a bit....... I'll surpise you guys with what I have soon.

Yay surprises~ I actually found someone local to me to cosplay with, So I'm going back to my original plan of doing Wild Tiger (im way more of a tiger fan anyway), so she can do Bunny's suit.

SURPRISE!!!!!!
I promissed you guys a surprise, So here you go!
Darkness Tiger I wore for Daicon Davis Anime Convention. I just took the helmet I was already working on added the visor and dark paint scheme.

Here's my Facebook Page if you wanna see some progress pictures and such:

Hahahaha, that's awesome. It also makes you look like an evil Godot from Phoenix Wright!

Lol, yeah I had the same thought actually

is it possible to get a 3ds of bunny? or pieces in a zip when parted?

I'm going to be busy all this month, but I'll see if I have time to at least upload a 3ds of bunny. I'm not sure how 3ds max is, but in Blender importing a file and exporting it as another is actually pretty easy, pretty much just like hitting 'save as'. Separating bunny into separate armor files will take a while though. I won't be able to start doing that until possibly June :(

@Dei: Thanks for breaking the foam-platform idea down for me! That would certainly be a handy trick. I will keep it in mind for future use. :)

@Rahkai: That's great that you found someone to cosplay with you, and even better yet that it means you get to be your preferred character!

As for progress, I have a few photos of the work I've done up until now on my Facebook page. Tons of work yet to go!

@CrimsonAether: AAAAAAHHHH WONDERFUL :D I love it! Your helmet turned out really well. I took a glance at your other photos on your Facebook, and the photos of your in-progress helmet are impressive. Did you only use resin and bondo on the helmet? Did you not fiberglass the inside? And if you did not use fiberglass, how sturdy is the helmet? I'm wondering because I just found out there is a low-odor resin, which means I may actually be able to use pepakura for my helmet without disturbing my neighbors or harming my pets, haha. (I'd have to substitute Bondo with paperclay, though.)

Oh, actually I did use fiberglass cloth, but I forgot to document it and take pictures. The fiberglass made it a lot sturdier and I would recommend using it, just be careful when the resin hardens, it gets sharp, so be sure to wear gloves. I forgot to remind one of my friends about that and he cut himself and the glass went inside his skin, also make sure to be careful with fiberglass dust when sanding. It may seem smooth, but the dust is actually little tiny pieces of glass. I was wondering why you'd have to substitute the bondo? The odor of the bondo isn't really bad I think, not as bad as resin. I do all my work outside so the fumes don't get trapped on my house.

Yeah, fibreglass cloth (when resined and dry) is pretty finicky to work with. The number of times I've gotten poked with it....

Be sure to trim off all excess as soon as it's dry! And try to not use paperclay, it's pretty heavy, and prone to cracking. Try to use apoxie sculpt, or some air drying clay that's of a lighter weight! My fave substitute for Bondo is heavy duty wall filler. While it isn't as strong as Bondo, it works great, and is much easier to sand!

Lol seriously, you're basically required to use a power sander or dremel if you want to use bondo. I was sanding it by hand for a while, then I was like, "F*ck This!". Power sand is so much easier, I would have saved my self about 6 hours if I used it before hand.
