Tie fighter and snow speeder from before the turn of the century.

I have a Falcon around somewhere too, but I couldn’t find it. (I did find a ‘cuda!)

This Tie Fighter won me a prize in “out of box” class in a model contest at the Bradley air museum. I don’t remember what place.

As you can see, I’ve got a bunch of u built models, mostly Mopar. I know there’s a GNX, a 911rs and a couple BMWs.

Although they were in bags, they’re pretty dusty...

Mmmm! These MPC kits look good. I like the foiled (?) bits on the TIE-X and the look of the "line' detail emphasis
Regards, Robert

Thanks!

The silver details are a buffing metallizer paint (model master) and the panel lines are a product for the purpose- I have black and brown. Basically, its a water thin ink that cleans up with water if you mess up. These use the black stuff. The brown never looked right to me but it was cheap enough back when I got it.

I have all my stuff organized in a big tackle box so I can show what I used to use...

EDIT- I remember pausing my VHS copy to get details on the snow speeder...

Great work...I especially like the color tone and panel lines on the TIE.

Something about the color and the clean lines really makes me immediately think of Ralph Mcquarrie's concept art.

Liking it more writing this remark...I have a couple of unbuilt 1/144 TIEs...may borrow this look.

When I read the title I thought this was going to be 1900 period versions of a TIE Fighter and Snowspeeder! Those look better than the old ERTL X-Wing and Vader TIE I did around 96. I just learned about weathering and the X-Wing looks like it survived a reeeeeally bad reentry.

Thank you! I guess the judges liked the clean look as well.

I sprayed the panels with flat gray (no idea the shade, but Testors rattle can) and then added the panel lines with the watery panel line fluid and then the silver details with the buffing Metalizer.

The panels were masked and I sprayed the black areas. Not much really!

The snow speeder I was a bit heavier with the weathering. Note how I have some leakage/staining around the right hand top flap (air brake?). I wanted to look of a problem in there that greasy hands were all over the panel, but the closed flap has nearly nothing on it. Sort of like closing the hood of the car to discover the fender tops are all greasy...
