Oh no! this keeps resurrecting! This projects on hold til August, when I'll be picking it back up and finishing it off (major project for upcoming convention).. I'm sorry for not posting sooner!

fenderbender- i know, that really sucked.. while I'll agree with the outfit changes (though the move felt more lateral than a a bonafide improvement, because that old stuff had to go), the sword is one thing that they should NOT have touched. That thing is not the sword of omens.

I'll be out of the country in August, so I'll try to keep up to date on it once I get home at Xmas.

Hello all, and sincere apologies for the lack of updates here! (12-15? .. I suck! ) Been very involved with some other projects that are getting rushed for Dragon*con, but wanted to post at least a couple lil' updates because this isn't dead!

Yesterday, I took a break from the other work to get work done on this... there isn't really a lot left to do actually.. just the pommel, and some small details (and still want to cast one of the hooks of the hilt because i like it more then the other though! )

Here's the rough carving of the bit that will go on the of the pommel. It makes me think of a butter cookie :3

And after refining, It was glued onto the pommel! I'm going to add a little tapered bit between the petals of the carving a little, and cap it off with a flat beveled disk to provide a spot for a crystal to sit

Mighty putty is being used for the design around the upper part of the pommel. It's easy to sand, and very sturdy

A spade bit for the hilt was also fashioned out of mighty putty, which was sanded down and glued to the crossguard. It still needs a little touchup work on it (sorry no photos of that bit yet!)

Also got to visit Aaron of www.fiberglassblades.com while in baltimore for a con, and he shared a wealth of information on casting swords! Hopefully the molding/casting part will go pretty smooth, after he shared some tips on how to (and how not to) make the molding great! This'll be my first 2 part mold, pretty excited!

This is such an exciting build. After the earlier work with the Eye of Thundera, I know the pommel gem is going to turn out great.

yeah, sorry Oliverqueen, and thanks for the continued kindness!

Skizot- yeah, I'll be making these for folks eventually in a short run, just need to figure out the logistics so to speak! Aaron shared a TON of tips though, so it shouldn't be too bad to cast and stuff!

Robert- they're leather greaves I made for an Assassin's Creed 2 outfit ^^
