Thunderbirds style fire engine

Someone recently, kindly gave me some old toys that he thought might be useful to me in dioramas. One of them I thought would merit converting into a fire engine in the style of the ones you sometimes see in Thunderbirds.

A beautiful job! Have you kept some of the original axles/wheels or replaced them with contemporary model shop ones?

Thanks. I've kept the axles and wheels in my box of handy spare wheels! The model just stands on its hover skirt.

Thunderbirds used about a dozen kits to bash up civilian and pod vehicles- once you notice those elements they really stand out. You managed to capture the look and feel of their quasi-future design style without resorting to those traditional kits! I really like the subtle engineering choices like having the rear section having a smooth radius front
