I picked up this Thunderbird 2 toy for a tenner a couple of weeks ago, made in 1995 apparently, it's as old as me :D

I remember my friend had one of these and I was always a bit jealous of it. Anyway I intend to convert this into a respectable miniature with perhaps 90% accuracy and a nice lightly weathered paintjob and hopefully a small diorama base.

First thing I did was dismantle it then grind down all the crazy raised panel lines and the vent grilles

Then I made paper templates for the windows, cut them out in 1mm styrene and glued them into place. I'll sand these back and blend them into the body.

Stay tuned for more, I've got high hopes for this one!

Whoa, whoa whoa... so you were born in 1995? Making you 18? Dang. I've followed some of your work... You're doing cooler stuff than I was doing at 18 (when you were 3!) Keep it up!

Haha yeah I just turned 18 at the beginning of the month. Thanks for the encouragement though friend, this a great community and I would never be at this level without the help of everyone on here

Thunderbird 2 was always my favorite of the International Rescue craft, so I'll enjoy watching your progress on this project. :popcorn

It looks really good and you made me feel very very old as i was a jr in highschool when you were born.

I've been just filling holes really, styrene superglued in, sanded, filled, sanded etc etc

I'm trying to be as precise as possible with this build, it shouldn't be overly complex so I'd like it to be clean. Any ideas for displaying this beast? I was thinking of something like this:
