But after a few rounds of Pepsi, I realised its the "skin" on a normal rifle which made it look so attractive and Appleseed-ish.

It's based on a design from Masamuni Shirow, is it not? It's been out there for a few years now.

I agree, it's pretty dang cool. I was thinking of buying one a while back. The pricae has gone down a bit since, glad I waited!

There is a toy version too, with lights and sounds.

It is. There is a company selling these airsoft covers that represented the gun that Deunan uses in Appleseed Ex-Machina. Those evern have the engraved "Poseidan" industries on it. This one posted looks exactly like it.
