Accidentally posted this in the prop forum. Sorry about that.

I was thinking of buying this for my Halloween costume.

Any thoughts from the experts out there? Thanks,

John

A word of advice....you're not supposed to post links to live auctions unless you suspect fraud. That said, the link doesn't show....try c & p the image from the auction into your thread for opinions....

Thanks Kev sorry about that. I'm such a noob,

No worries...we were all there at one point....

And yes, the armor does look pretty nice...nice paintwork. Looks like the typical GT/GT clone set. For a Halloween costume, it'd be perfect.

Again, it all comes down to what you are trying to accomplish. If you want a reasonable facsimile of Vader that 99% of the public will go "Wow. Darth Vader."...than the GT stuff is your best bet. Plentiful, relatively inexpensive.....and it pretty much looks the part.

If you're going for screen accuracy...then the parts are much harder to find and exponentially more expensive. And honestly, only the anal Vader nuts will notice the difference. So you gotta ask yourself, is it worth spending the extra $? Personally, I like the authentic stuff, but I started with GT and the like way back when as well...now, I can justify the extra cost for more accurate Vader props (although justifying it to the wife is a differenty story. ;) )...only you can answer what suits your needs/wants....

I put a bid in on it so we'll see where it goes. I'm not real concerned with minute details. If it looks like Vader and not a cheap toy I'm pretty happy. Although I did splurge for an SPFX helmet. :) Thanks for the help..

Pretty sure it's GT 2006. Looks good. I say go for it.

Now if I can just find a decent ESB chest box in the 250-300 range I'll be complete..:)

Send TOSPHASER a pm.....he has decent kits....

The GT isn't bad for the money, I think every Vader out there has owned a set at somepoint. I don't know about the new version but the old stuff is small, and if your a big guy it may be uncomfortable to wear.

Small is good. I'm 6'2" and only about 170. I was afraid I'd be swimming in it. :)

I have a set of GT2006 it's pretty big bigger then the old GT the only problem i really have with it other then it not being movie accurate. Is when i wear my body suit.... the one under the leather it kind of jabs me in the back on my left side :angry

I bet Vader was always in pain. You're just really authentic. :)

I third that, I also have a TOSPHASER kit and I think its good.

That armor is sold by portumac, he also sells GT chestbox kits if you are interested.

I have heard people who bought his stuff have been happy with it, including the chest armor.

I have a set of Portumac's armour. I ordered it without the cape hook, but otherwise I think it's the same as the set you have in the pic. It's huge, bigger than I was expecting.

Is GT 2006 Vader armor still for sale and if so where do I go to purchase it?
