The base is almost finished and things are coming along slowly but surely on this build.

A bit more leather work on the handle and a few final touches on the painted pedestal and it should be finished.

The pedestal look feel is based on this picture I found in the ART OF THOR book. I imagine set lighting is responsible for making it look as gold/yellow as it does...but I think the colours look good with the hammer.

That looks amazing!! Was someone offering the hammer head for sale here? I searched the junkyard but can't find anything. I'd love to own one of those!

I finished off a good portion of the handle leather today.

I just need to finish up the leather loop and the end cap.

The hero hammer doesnt seem to have any seam line where the leather of the handle side meets the end...

Magic hammer I guess...or at least magic fabrication techniques.

You should really show how that handle was made/machined, it's a sweet prop. Simply the best Mjolnir period. :cool

Thanks guys.

Here is a picture of the handle almost finished with the machining....before the leather work started.

It was done this way to allow for the leather to nest into the pockets so that the metal and leather would be flush when everything gets put together.

The leather was then cut to match the curves.

The biggest chore was figuring out how to put the stitching in and still keep things clean when tightening things up.

Its getting there.

Managed to finish up the leather on the handle today.

I mounted the leather loop in with a bit of overkill...I didnt want the leather coming loose after everything was stitched up tight.

And that pretty much wraps things up.

Here is the hammer on the finished Odin's weapons vault pedestal.

Its nice to finally cross this one off of the list.

I think I did something wrong during assembly though...it doesnt come back to my hand.

Very NICE! You forgot to have it made with the enchantment of returning to the thrower. How far can you throw it? :)
 
I think that the best compliment I can muster right now is to simply say: "I. Want. One." Incredible work, best Mjolnir I've ever seen.
 
Wow. Simply jaw dropping. So much better than any hammer prop I've seen thus far. This is what I wished the MR prop could have been. Alas.
 
Simply amazing! Definitely the best Mjolnir I've seen and could maybe even rival the actual movie hero prop.
