Things you're tired of seeing in movies

Although they're fabulous pieces of music, others overused IN TRAILERS are from James Horner scores: "Charging of Fort Wagner" from Glory, and various cues from The Rocketeer (just about every Disney trailer from early 90s thru mid naughts).

- Definitely shaky cam.
Followed closely by movies that don't have more than 3 seconds before the camera angle changes. What happened to mvoies that were filmed in like 5 takes? Ok, maybe not that short, but these days the average movie is comprised of super-short takes. I guess it's not wonder why most actors have no actual acting talent. They don't have to remember more than 3 seconds worth of lines before the scene cuts. Read line to actor. Shoot scene. Repeat.

- Flaming explosions. Coming from an "explosive" background I hate seeing fireball explosions. Once I start doing demo again and I get a GoPro I'll start posting videos of real explosions.

- Holding breath for inhumanly long periods of time followed by being able to see in any underwater condition.

- Everyone knows some form of martial arts.

- Unrealistic conversation/dialogue (Thanks Kevin Smith)

- Women Presidents... please. ;)

- Never ending gun magazines. I wish I could find one of these in a store.

- Perfect traffic that allows for a high speed chase to easily weave in and out, in either direction. I normally can't drive more than 100 yards before I'm stuck behind someone. No pass option. No weave option. No launch myself up over traffic by driving onto an autotrailer.

Casting directors choosing actors based on popularity rather than acting skill and similarity with their characters.

CHANNING TATUM!!! CHANNING TATUM!!!

I just feel I need to point out the tarantulas from Raiders. If I were going into that temple, I'd rather have a leather jacket on than just a shirt :lol

Alfred Molina said the tarantulas on his skin was unpleasant, so, yeah, Wested, baby!

Two words; sparking bullets. Thank God you don't see that quite so much in movies anyone. Bullets DON'T spark when they hit stuff!

Depends on what they're hitting and the type of bullet. My steel cores spark off the backsplash at my range. :)

However 99 times out of 100 you're right.

Take a .22LR hollowpoint.
Shove a Ronsonol Zippo flint into the hollow cavity.
Load
Fire at any steel object.

FIRESTARTER, BABY!

I read an interview with a practical effects guy, I think he did The Godfather; the article described him and his crew installing squibs on a set wall, and he pointed out ones with sparks were only used on metal surfaces--no sparks coming from the plaster. So at least some of them put a little bit of thought into it. ;)

Unnecessary, IDIOTIC remakes!!

Spider-man 3 didn't do all that well back in 2007. So 5 years later they rebooted Spider-man. Superman Returns didn't do that well either, so they rebooted that as well. The original Friday the 13th came out in 1980.... that got rebooted in 2009, it didn't do that well either. Next year we are getting another Friday the 13th remake.
Then we have StarGate, a 20 year old sci-fi film that spawned three separate tv-shows, 17 seasons in total. Which supposedly is getting rebooted and turned into a trilogy (Sounds like Terminator Salvation, another epic fail reboot).

Cliffhanger, the 1993 film starring Stallone, is ALSO getting rebooted. What's next? RoboCo.. never mind. Point Break? Nope that is getting rebooted as well.
It wouldn't surprise me if in the next two years or so, we will get reboots of Twilight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Under Siege and maybe Pulp Fiction.

*sigh* :facepalm

Not quite in movies but in movie trailers there's always so many fade to blacks and fade ins and fade out and fade in and fade out and fade in and fade out etc. Action movie trailers are especially guilty of this. It's not a big deal but I can't stop noticing it in trailers.

Also in comedy trailers, music stops, a joke is made, music resumes.

I don't think Disney, Bruckheimer, or Depp are finished with the current string of Pirates of the Caribbean movies just yet, so I'd rule that one out until at least 2020 or so.

I don't think so either. I am even hoping for more PotC with Depp!. But at the same time it wouldn't surprise me to see a reboot.

Under Seige? Who's going to replace Erika Eleniak?

Twilight reboot? FFS, why?!?

That my friend is a very good question. Replacing Seagal is fairly simple: take any 2x4 and paint a face on it, DONE. :lol His "acting" is just as wooden.
Why? That is what I want to know... Hollywood should know. Either that or they just blindly reboot films.

Seagal is as much as "actor" as van Damme - and watching either act is truly painful to behold!

(Why do I class Street Fighter as a "guilty pleasure"? Raul Julia farkin' carries the movie - despite the fact that he was dying of cancer when he did it, which was for his grandkids - and both Kylie Minogue and Ming-Na Wen are easy on the eyes...)

But replacing Seagal with a 2x4? Bud, I think you're giving him entirely too much credit. I've seen better acting from my right shoe...

He actually had cancer during the SF shoot? Damn, he was tough :( I agree, he was great.

Well, I didn't want to be too mean :angel

Stomach cancer. It was his last movie to shoot. He had his pick of something like three or four projects for his last - he did Street Fighter for his grandkids.

We lost him far too soon! Moon Over Parador, The Escape Artist, Kiss of the Spider Woman - excellent actor!
