Things you're tired of seeing in movies

One note villains. Heath Ledger's Joker is the epitome of one note villains. He just wants to "watch the world burn". Yeah, that's pretty much every villain in the history of always. Even though Ledger put on a great and unique performance, it didn't hide the fact that I was simply watching another cookie cutter villain-of-the-week.
Good one. I never understood the villian that just wants to screw everything up just for fun. The X men prequel made no sense in that regard, why bring on a nuclear war and destroy civilization? Mutants gotta eat and would like electricity, too, right?
The best villians are the ones you can look at and say, "Yeah, i could see myself doing that." Magua in "The Last of the Mohicans" was one such villian. When he explains to the French general why he hates the Brits so much, you can see his reasons.

One that is starting to annoy me now is the superhero movie villain. Specifically the ones where the villain is a bigger or nastier version of the hero.

Hulk- bad guy used Hulk creating tech/theory to make hulk dogs an turn himself into that electricity thing.
The Incredible hulk- Abomination
Iron Man- Stone in his big Iron man suit
Winter Soldier - the Winter Soldier
Spidey-Venom
Superman 2- Group of kryptonians with super powers
Superman 3- Evil Superman in the wrecking yard
Superman 4-Nuclear Man
Man of Steel- Group of kryptonians with super powers
There will be others I can't think of just yet. I know the characters are largely lifted from the comics but I would rather see them fighting something different than a suped up or evil version of themself.

I think that the idea behind that is that all of the "evil" mutants would simply go into hiding and ride things out and take over after the war is over. I think that part of the thinking is also that mutants are inherently better able to survive a nuclear winter than normal humans and that superiority is what would allow them to take over after the war because, once again, the normal humans would have been either wiped out or severely reduced in numbers to where they could simply push them aside.

Another thing that is getting really tired and old is the know it all doctor/scientist/engineer, like a degree in any of those fields automatically makes you qualified in all aspects of that field. Stargate, as much as I liked the series, is probably one of the worst offenders in that category with Samantha Carter the genius electrical engineer, astrophysicist, astronomer, quantum physicist, general physics genius, computer engineer, pilot, and not to mention expert in all manner of alien tech from Asgard, to Goa'uld, to Ancient, and Ori. Then you have the doctor that's a general practioner, pediatrician, cardiologist, neurologist, psychiatrist, podiatrist, nutritionist, and surgeon on top of it.

Oh, that part was clear. What made no sense was WHY anyone would want that. Sure, the mutants would survive better after the nukes, but what would life be like for them? Ruling an utter wasteland? Who could possibly want that? That's what I mean about the villians that want to end the world but don't think of what happens next if they intend to survive. Like I said, I would assume that even an evil mutant would want running water, lights and some manner of society to make that life worth living. Otherwise, they could just head off into Siberia and start over on their own.

If you've got a couple of Quicksilvers and a few mutants with super strength, you could find city blue-prints and rebuild a whole city in a matter of months. Hell, Magneto alone can rebuild all the metal skeletons for buildings. We already know he's extremely adept at manipulating metal wires to the point that he can physically reprogram a computer as demonstrated in Days of Future Past. Storm can clear out non-metallic debris. Nightcrawler can move construction workers. Wolverine can smoke cigars.

The difference there is Humungus didn't cause the situation he was in, he was just trying to get what he could out of that situation. That makes sense, but creating the situation directly, well, that's just insane. I can only buy into the whole, 'destroy the world' shtick if it means the villian wants to die along with everyone else.
Man wakes up, reaches over to empty space where lover used to be, turns to see she is gone.
Good one, I never reached over without looking in such a situation. You don't want to bascially slap someone in the face if you don't know where your hand is going.
And on top of that, you've noticed that they always know right away the person is gone from the house and not simply in the bathroom or otherwise out of the room for just the moment. There's no way you could know that for sure by just seeing they aren't still in bed.

Indiana Jones, I think it was raiders of the lost ark, they jumped out of the plane in a raft -_- what the hell!! That will kill you. I really hate impossible rescues like that in films

But to be fair, staying in the plane would also have killed him. Lesser of two evils.

Well there's Danny ...

when they change the character history to be PC or follow a trend.
The whole movie, "Last Samurai" was like that. A pal of mine who's considered a leading expert on Japan in that timeframe practically has a stroke every time the name of that movie even comes up. He told me, "It'd be like a well-made Japanese movie about Gettysburg, showing Robert E Lee being advised by a Japanese man on how to conduct war."

Jump scares and off-screen kills. I can smell a jump scare from a mile away, and off-screen kills are so dull they take me out of the moment. It's like "Build up! Build up! Tension! Edge of your seat! Oh here's a bunny."
That's what I love about Paul Verhoeven. He shows you everything, and it's disgusting. He doesn't spare the audience. Neill Blomkamp is also good at this, but he cuts away too prematurely.

One of the ones that gets me the most is when they change race......any race.......black, white, yellow or purple.......if they wrote it in the comics one way theres no reason to change it.

A friend of mine does Hollywood pitches for a living (well, he says he does, I can't see how you could make living at that), and he was seriously upset with Will Smith in the Wild Wild West movie as he was a huge fan of Robert Conrad.
Anyway, he swears he pitched an idea for a 'Shaft' movie with a white actor as a sort of joke and to see how far he'd get with it, noting how many changes in race there have been for characters in movies over the last 20 years or so and how it shouldn't matter. He got yelled at by some studio people when he did that, they said changing races "...is only okay when the original character was white," he swears that's what they told him.

Typical Hollywood and the whole PC movement in general, you can take any white character and make them black and it's cool but the moment you try to do the opposite it's now racist for some reason. Similarly, you can take male characters and make them female and it's cool but just try doing the opposite and see how far that gets. It's sort of like how you can have colleges that are exclusively for blacks and ones for women only but you can't have an all male college or one just for whites (or Asians for that matter) and the worst would have to be trying to establish a college that's for white males only.

No offense but Asians wouldn't need their own college. UC Berkeley, UCLA and UCSD are more than 50% Asian already.
