Things you're tired of seeing in movies

You've met someone who always has the exact same level of at least 2 weeks stuble, all the time?
I sure haven't.
If maintaining a perpetual stubble is so unrealistic then why do stubble trimmers exist?

No offense meant but I can see the stubble working only in a situation where the GQ smooth Miani Vice look loving character OPENLY STATES HE IS STUBBLE SCULPTING ON PURPOSE. Anything less than an overt admittance to manscaping will trigger every fake facial hair alert I can have. Jokes about Miami Vice surround us to this day. To try to pass it iff in a series after the entire populous has accepted it as a mythical level impossibility and now a fad equivalent to knee high black socks with shorts.... not going to accept this as a feasible story line. If the guy is a city resident and lives his life in nightclubs, is my one exception, or possibly lives at the gym.

speaking of... what are we supposed to think of THIS?

Oh yes and you had to bring up this one. I was challenged to do a cosplay for this guy's Supernatural character. When they have a different facial hair pattern than you and it isn't replaceable by lace beard, just going to walk away and cry. Imagine gluiing single hairs of stubble to your face, every time you try to practice the build. It isn't like throwing on a costume and checking in the mirror. So, possibly, this is my real beef with this look. I can admit some cosplay angst is involved here.

Can we just have a Star Trek movie where the crew conducts itself with professionalism and the stoic captain exhibits model leadership, responsibility and integrity?

It would be great to see the Enterprise have an actual space adventure with a story that stimulates the imagination, provokes thought, and inspires awe.

It doesn't always have to be about Starfleet, the entire Federation of Planets, or the fate of the universe being in jeopardy.

And for heaven's sake, please stop blowing up the Enterprise.

I think it isn't even real, so yeah, it would be hard to duplicate with a real beard. ;)

What I said applies to TV as well as movies. As long as the character or character are in a situation where they'd have regular access to their razor then they'd be able to maintain their stubble. Now if they're in the military or if they're on the run and weren't able to grab a lot of their personal stuff then, yes, it's unbelievable.

Hey if Mac can shave dry while he's being hunted by a Predator and guerillas, anyone can shave!

Have to go all the way back to Forbidden Planet for that, and even Commander Adams had to deal with a drunk cook and a horny first officer.

Watched Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends(wtf is up with these titles?) back to back around Halloween. I liked Kills but then Ends is like totally different. Feels like a different franchise altogether. Same people worked on both people mostly, and they were made around the same time yet, feels totally different.

While it is a bit unrealistic, I think that it can be justified depending on the context. If a character is at home and not out in the boonies or on the run throughout the movie then it can work. They likely have razors set to trim their beards in such a way to maintain the stubble.
That's right; I have a permanent 2 day stubble because I shave with a hair shaver. Leaves just enough to have that look all year long(y)(y):D:D

Then you haven't met me. Mine looks that way all the time year 'round. My beard trimmer is set at about a quarter of an inch, maybe a little less. In fact, where I live most all the guys do it that way.
My brother(y)(y):D

Watch Lower Decks, there may not be professionalism but the stakes are usually not that high where it threatens the Federation or the galaxy as a whole. Lots of adventure, lots of nods to all Treks from the past, including TOS. It's, in my opinion,, the best Trek show out there and the best Trek that we've had in a long while.

OK, so consider this a hijacking attempt and mod me but I need this ability to grow this cosplay stubble. I am not kidding when I say it is pure hell to get this d@mned look. Trying to get hair to cut at this length seems to require a pulling device like a flowbee to get the hair to stand up. Regular facial trimmers DO NOT DO THIS. When I use the adjustable length cutters, they just randomly miss half the hairs which stand out obviously in pictures. What tool is there that pulls up the hair while also trimming it at this length? On the same topic, what tool straightens these 1/4 inch tall hairs into the direction of my choice. Again, my guess, some heated plate comb or steamer but how to grab and pull up the hair or point it in the right direction while softening then cooling it. Throw me some gq tips here. I have at least 4 cosplays that need this facial hair and the only reasonable success I have had is to shave completely and wait 4 days..... you can see how this puts a cramp in modifications and testing and why I agree wholeheartedly that it is something I want to see less of in movies.

I've known people who can grow a full beard in one day:po_Oo_O Not joking; this guy at work (long time ago, in a galaxy not too far away:))was from somewhere in Algeria and, I kid you not, was clean shaven in the morning (7:00 am) and by the time the factory's horn was blowing at 5:00 pm, he had a thicker beard than that character in Supernatural:unsure::eek::eek::whistle::whistle:

Meanwhile, I can not shave for the better part of a month and I'll have about 1/4 - 1/2" of hair on my face. My Asian blood doesn't allow me to grow a beard and/or a moustache worth a damn, not only does it not grow very long, it's very sparse to boot. Since COVID fist hit I've tried growing a beard a couple of times but end up shaving it off because it never looks very good and it's more hassle than it's worth.

I do actually know a guy that has this issue. My friend steve coukd go from clean shaven to full facial hair in one day. We called it "11 AM" shadow because he would look rough by lunchtime. He went from baby face to dwarf beard in one month.

This is me as well. I refer to it as having spent one month only to look like I rubbed a plague rat on glue on my face.
