TheNickFox Presents: Raimi Spider-Man Pattern - Now Even More Accurater!!! (Page 5)

Re: The Nick Fox Presents: Spider-Man Pattern Development (w/ Pic Heavy Tutorial)

good for you for sticking to it in the face of all those hardware issues! that's the ole' webhead spirit!

i've been looking to put together my own spidey4fun suit, but last i heard Brad's printers are not up to speed after a move. hence the search that brought me back to the RPF.

i'm looking for a suit pattern, no brick work, and bolder black webbing... i like an illustrated look overall. PM if you can.

Hi Nick, I just wanted to ask, is this (How To Make A Movie Style Spiderman Costume) yours? I came across it as I was looking for some idea on making a Spiderman costume..

Um, I'm not sure if Nick's still active with this thread since his last post was last December but if those who have been following his work closely, could you take a look at the link above? I was considering of purchasing the Spiderman pattern but then remembered seeing a similar pattern here in the RPF. Since the site has no customer feedback, I'm now wondering if it is legit or someone had gotten their hands on Nick's work and decided to make some profit out of it.

Would truly appreciate the response. I'd be more than happy to purchase it knowing that it's Nick's hard work rather than some bum trying to pull off quick cash.

The site is not mine. That guy is simply selling a colorized version of the "TKComics" pattern that was sold back in the day.

The TKComics pattern had contrast issues and the brick pattern disappears in the darker areas of the blues.

I'd recommend looking into either Fettster's (If he's still printing patterns) work or Spidey4Fun's. Neither will just send you the digital file, but you can get printed spandex from them...and they know their stuff!

Good luck.

Where can I get a template of this like just an out line of the parts I want to build my own super hero suit :)

Re: The Nick Fox Presents: Spider-Man Pattern Development (w/ Pic Heavy Tutorial)

Nick, I think I can tell you a little tip to make the brick pattern distorsion a little bit easier (and quicker)... It's the "displacement" filter (still under the "distort" menu) :)
Just use your greyscale image of the shadowing and lighting of the muscles, without any color, or other design, save it as a PSD file, name it displacement or whatever you like, then put your brick pattern on a new layer, now go to filter>distort>displace, it will open a window, here you have to play a little to find your perfect settings, then it will open a new window, choose the greyscale PSD file of the muscle shading you have created... et voilà! Here it is your distorted bricks pattern, you will have to play a little, but that's it!
Applied to the entire surface :)

If my explanation isn't really good, search for a tutorial about photoshop displacement, it will be fun! ;)

Re: The Nick Fox Presents: Spider-Man Pattern Development (w/ Pic Heavy Tutorial)

Does any one know were i can get a template of the body suit pattern I'm trying to make my own super hero suit design

Re: The Nick Fox Presents: Spider-Man Pattern Deve

Ramiel, I used to use the displacement filter to speed things up a bit, but as I got better reference material, I became obsessed with matching as many of the bricks as perfectly as possible. Displacement just never gave me the proper amount of control.

It's a great tip though, and anyone getting started out with custom muscle mapping should give it a try.

Re: The Nick Fox Presents: Spider-Man Pattern Development (w/ Pic Heavy Tutorial)

Hi,
Does the movie suit have muscle shading as I think that was his natural body. I dont see any heavy form of muscle shading in the movie. My last question is that which fabric do I exactly need to buy as I am going to be ordering the fabric online. A link to the name of the exact fabric along with some description to order will help a lot

All the original movie suits had muscle shading + a muscle suit under costume.

Okay, I finally manned up and ordered a test print. (of half the suit) I know most people usually order an array of color variants. But I'd rather have something wearable in the wrong colors, than something in the right colors that isn't wearable.

I'll update this thread when the print comes in.

Nick - Fantastic work... is there any chance you still have your file and maybe offer it for sale?? This is the best Spiderman suit i've seen. I got one of the templates from Taylor, but i was also hoping for a finished version of yours if you ever choose to offer it so that when i can afford to print it, i don't have to learn everything it takes to do such a wonderful job. Just the detail work in this is worth a pretty penny. Even if not, this thread deserves a bump so everyone can see how great your work really is ;).

Re: The Nick Fox Presents: Spider-Man Pattern Development (w/ Pic Heavy Tutorial)

Thank you very much, Allfate. I really appreciate the compliment.

If my pattern is ever offered, I will only sell it as a printed pattern. The file itself is just too easily copied for my taste, and having lived through the TKComics price wars on eBay. I watched a digital file that was originally ~$120, get bought by someone who would buy them, make copies, and sell them for $100...THAT guy would turn around and sell copies for $80, and on it went until you could get patterns for a couple bucks...and the market dried up for them.

I especially wouldn't want to saturate the market with digital patterns now that Taylor is offering his own PSD files.

I'll be picking up a test print on lycra this weekend. Depending on how it turns out, I may offer prints in the VERY near future. ;)

I would be very interested in a print of your file, and I completely understand about the file reproduction issue... I'm sure that took weeks or even months of solid work to get it to that final product. I'll keep my eye on this thread for more updates. Are you currently working on any other projects??

(The dog toy is to show scale :lol)

I haven't actually seen it in person yet (I can't easily get shipments to my apartment) but I'm extremely excited based on these pictures! I'll take possession of it this weekend.

...a full print may be right around the corner. ;)

That look awesome, the print came out great!

Re: The Nick Fox Presents: Spider-Man Pattern Development w/ Test Print (Page 4)

great work! my hat goes off to you.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I may have some color correction to do for future prints, but I'm really excited that this is finally coming to life.

Right now I've just got my fingers crossed that the sizing is good. I'm a smaller guy so I guess we'll see.

Wish me luck.
