i was thinking of this earlier today, and was talking to a friend, and we can't agree on one pistol that fits the bill as the single greatest "BFG" pistol in movie and cinema history.

the only rules are
1: HAS to be a pistol. hand held. no rifles.
2: has got to be either in a book/movie/tv show.
3: can be a modified rifle, but it has to be hand held, as in shot with one hand by a normal human being.

my personal favorite was a modded out "blooper" grenade launcher made into a hand held shotgun (from the novel "Cain"). his favorite was the punishers double barrel hand held from the new punisher movie.

runners up were the blade runner pistol, the timecop pistol, and the robocop pistol.

so, what do you think is the biggest, meanest, ass kickingest pistol in movie/tv/book history?

oooooohhhhhhhoooooooooooo we didnt think of the hellboy pistol... thats a good one.

the main idea is what gun have you seen in the movies or read of modded out versions that seemed like you could shoot it in the sky and wing god.

the winner of the contest eventually was megatron :lol

Heyy... Samaritan doesn't count - you said 'normal human being'. ;)

If the contest was still open I would have voted for the Lawgiver (film version).

Taki's pistol/cannon from the anime Wicked City, thats one awsome pistol. That and Mal's pistol just cos it's cool.

Very hard to choose between the auto9 from Robocop or the Dredd Lawgiver MkI...

Here are the three types of Judge Dredd Lawgiver

The Mark I. The cover is by Mike McMahon and features a thicker barrel than the schematic by Ian Gibson.

The Mark II. This replaced the Mark I in 2000AD in 1998. This Cliff Robinson artwork was commissioned by me for a print to accompany a lawgiver replica. Cliff drew if from a replica I had sent him which in turn was based on his covers and the original schematic by Jim Murray and Jason Brashill.

Come on, no one has mentioned the E-11 yet?

Foosh gun is kinda up there on the list IMHO, so is Gene Simmons gun from Runaway; There's just something inherently badass about a gun that fires rounds you can't hide from... :D

The Blade Runner pistol is right up there but I have always been fond of the "I Come in Peace" calico mod. That thing was badass in that movie.

I assume that when we say 'gun', we mean some sort of projectile weapon? If that is the case, the Blade Runner Blaster. If we are open to any hand weapon, from any TV show or movie, then the TOS Phaser II, B5-PPG, and the new BSG mini-series side arm. Heck even the M41-A has been seen firing with one hand. The E-11 and Han Solo Blasters and a Logan's Run Deep Sleep flame gun would also be on my list. I do love weapons made from real guns. LOL.
