The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

News to me they are actively …..”roll it in to a patch update we are working on” that means user access through the USB-C….. imo.

It would be nice if they included activating the MSDC slot…expedited because of the B&M that people have done….including me :)
Right?
How awesome would it be if this isn’t just a ‘patch update,’ but the patch and the update we’ve all been waiting for?

Will there be another run? I had registered right at the beginning of the campaign, hoping for some kind of early access, but kept missing out each time a batch was released for sale (on Amazon US). Very disappointing, as you can imagine.

We’re not sure at the moment. It depends on the demand from fans asking to be informed through the Star Trek Shop. At the moment the numbers aren’t massive and no where near enough to warrant another run. The email we sent you inviting you to purchase it from Star Trek Shop or IGN was delivered to you one minute after we sent it and opened by you one hour later. The stock on IGN was available for over 14 hours after we sent the email out, so I am not sure why you missed out on that opportunity. In total we sent out 5 invite emails to you.

I’m surprised. I suppose they took a pretty good loss on this? Hopefully the mood changes at Wand

Probably the word of its hiccups has spread across the WWW …to infinity and beyond.

WTC probably didn’t use independent non-biased Beta Testers….that’s where hiccups are discovered….imo.

Something like this….. The real human beta testing platform ….. there are other services like that.

All the emails hit me at work. I work in a secured IT area, we do engineering for many high profile clients and the government. So most times i am unable to answer unless i am at home. Keep missing the chance at another Tricorder. As for the phaser, I will be happy with the FE Strange New Worlds Phaser. If the Wand co ever did come out with the phaser and communicator at this point, I expect I will be dead by that time. Hopefully FE also looks at some more of the Trek line props.

IF ……you make the attempt to make this sort of cable….you’ll have to pick a count of where you’ll make your group splits. You’ll have to use an exacto blade to begin the splits.

There’s two ways to go about splitting…

One is you use the exacto and try to maintain splitting down the length of the cable without cutting into the insulation of the individual wires ….or you start a split with the exacto and hand tear down the length of the cable ….if you know what I mean.

Remember…do not split all the way to the ends…tape off at the ends where you think you should stop splitting…so know when to stop splitting. If you split through to the ends….No Bueno…you might as well make wrist bracelets with wire groups….

Chekov can't use that cable.

I’m not sure many people know about the poll the Star Trek Shop is doing to gage interest. I’ve tried to pass the word here and in FB groups, but people still ask “When will these be on Amazon again”?

Maybe a small company, with its own website, and a direct vested financial stake in producing more tricorders, could set up a poll or comment section on their website where individuals who would like additional production of an item, or two, or three, to be considered could have their say. It might even be helpful not to just ask "is there any interest" - but also to ask - how many are you interested in purchasing. Maybe a small company that goes by TWC which is where I would express interest in someone MAKING more tricorders (communicators, phasers) - not in someone TALKING ORDERS for more. I expressed an interest in the tricorder early on. I was NEVER asked how many I was interested in purchasing. I ALWAYS knew I would be getting more than one. I KNEW there were family members and friends who wanted at least one but they did not have the time to "register" or "monitor" relatively minor websites for five years to know EXACTLY when the (non-flood) gate might swing open and the hot iron could be struck. At one point I was TOLD I could get two. I think some still missed out. I remember reading the tricorder updates about how all of the decisions of each little detail was discussed and pursued during the design and development cycles. I wish more of the order, purchase, and distribution issues had been discussed and addressed. The protective packaging was an amazing detail - and a critical one because Amazon destroys about half of the packages it delivers to me. But much of the rest seemed ill-considered. And now I feel as if TWC does not really care about next steps. I hear the customer service continues to be excellent. But customer service is more than just servicing product problems of past customers who DID get their toys.
