The Walking Dead Season 5 Discussion (Spoilers)

I'm wondering if the body tied to the tree in this episode and Carol's speech to the kid last episode are connected.

Did Carol see the bad guys doing it at some point in her banishment?

Is father Gabriel the stooge for the Wolves,is that why he wanted Deanna to get rid of Rick and the gang,so the wolves could take over?.

OR

Is Enid, helping them, using kitchen timers and the such to bring more Zombies that way?

I can't help but think that if rick told deanna about woodbury or terminus, she'd be a little bit more understanding.

But characters never take the "communication" route when it comes to this kind of drama.

Why were they sitting in Deanna's house blasting music after burning Carols note?

What I want to know is where everybody is getting all of their ammo from. By this point ammo has to be getting kind of scarce, at least to the point that I'd be wanting to seriously discourage Sasha from going out on her little hunting expeditions and basically wasting ammo. I suppose that her little target practice sessions from the church tower is somewhat justified although if I were the Savanah people I'd have come out with some sort of means of getting rid of walkers along the wall without having to waste ammo shooting them.

After watching The Last Man on Earth it makes me wonder, where are the Savanah people getting their water and what are they doing for sewage? After 18 months I'd doubt that there would be running water anywhere and as self sufficient as these people seem I doubt that they have their own sewage treatment plant and/or water distribution center (or whatever it is you call the equivalent of a power plant for water).

The music was for their sons death. It was the cd he listened to in runs. They burned Carol notes cause she took Nick's word about how Glenn got him killed. She doesn't give give 2 poops about sorry, she wants her kid back.

talking about Nick, anyone else notice he took the handgun Rick stashed before going into the town. It has "J" on it just like ricks.

Oh, I don't think she believes Nicholas at all. Her comment about how she sees more than people think tells me that she knows he's lying. However, Aidan, while a jerkface (by her own admission), WAS her son and it makes sense that she'd blame the members of Rick's crew for his death as much as Nicholas.

if I'm way off and missed info..sorry I was hammered from the MSU game early.

I'd be hammered too if I had to go to an MSU game. :D #goblue

I'm actually a bit irked that they keep teasing Morgan and haven't had him actually show up yet. It seems excessive and would be better suited to one episode of 'What Morgan Has Been Up To All This Time' stuff instead of just dropping it every so often. It dilutes everything else in some ways.

somehow it doesnt get out of my head that that nicholas wimp has something to do with the wolves that carve a W into peoples heads and toss them to the walkers.

sorry, couldnt resist :)

I'd be willing to bet that Morgan plays a bigger role in the final episode next week. He's more tied in to what has happened than we think I bet.

My question is why has he been following Rick and his group (supposedly)? Has his head finally cleared? Does he still have it out for Rick? Is he still nuts after having to shoot his undead wife? And why does no one call them Zombies?!?!?!?!?!? I mean really, walkers, biters, roamers, etc. :unsure

Eh, he's got a point, though. There's never even a mention of conserving ammo, unless there's some dramatic moment where they're, like, holding out in a building against an onslaught of walkers or humans.

Plus, ammo is heavy, and nobody ever seems to be carrying spare magazines.

Yes, I know it's the zombie apocalypse and things are unrealistic. Yes, I recognize that the human skull -- even a decomposing one -- will not suddenly adopt the material strength of your average watermelon to the point where you can pretty much crush or pierce it with ease the way they do on the show. And yes, I recognize that eventually decomposition will cause the dead bodies to simply fall apart so completely that even if they have the impulse to move, they won't be able to because they'll have turned to goo. So, yeah, I get that stuff is unrealistic in these contexts.

But sometimes, simple stuff like ammunition becomes all the more glaring because of all the other crazy crap that goes on. Like, nobody is trying to explain the zombie body consistency thing (or the weird zombie body strength -- rending flesh and biting through blue-jean material or other similar fabric should NOT be easy, implying the zombies are incredibly strong), but ammo? I mean...that should be pretty easy to reference, no? The town has an armory, the survivors carry web gear with extra magazines, occasionally you show them coming across some outpost and looting it for ammo, etc. You can give little nods to this sort of thing to make it seem more grounded, and thereby make the less groundable aspects more acceptable. But they just don't seem to care about it.

It doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the show, but it does strike me as kinda lazy.

Or the fact that they make groanish sounds, even if it appears that all vocal-chord-area-stuff has fallen apart in decomposition...

Solo, I don't think the producers "don't care about it" so much as they expect the fans to accept the fact that they do find ammo and take it. It's just not an important plot advancement that needs to have money and time spent on filming something that's not important.

We know Rick and his group go potty out in the woods but they don't need to film it to prove to us they're doing it.

The ammo thing hasn't been a big deal to me throughout the show...

... until this last episode. Sasha's walker-rampages and target practice would seem like she's been going through mags pretty quickly. Speaking from experience, you go through ammo a lot faster than you'd think, and sometimes staying stocked can be pretty difficult. I find it hard to believe she wouldn't be putting a big dent in their supply.

The ammo, the fact that I'm pretty sure some of the ARs are tricked out with furniture that wasn't released when the apocalypse happened, the insane things they decide are bulletproof...screw it, I just look at the pretty colors.

Slightly spoilerish comment regarding ammo:

It is addressed in the comics, in that Eugene very soon has them recover some reloading equipment so he can start building up their supplies.

How many times have we seen Morgan following the group? I only saw two scenes. I get the impression from this thread that there were more I may have missed.

The last time we saw Morgan was after the group left Gabriel's church on the way to DC I believe. So unless he scored a ride and followed them, he may be pretty far behind!

The funny thing is that people miss about that scene is that Hershel actually reloaded twice during that scene. The first time is off screen (when you see Lori on the porch with what's her name, talking about Carl probably going off along the tree line to go after his father, at the start of that shot, you hear Hershel's shotgun. Nearly half way through that shot, the shotgun goes silent, which is him reloading the shotgun at that moment, only for it to pick up shortly after she and what's her name try for the truck and the shot cuts to show Hershel firing his shotgun) and once on the screen (when Hershel begins to scream "come on!" at the Walkers in an attempt to draw them away from the house, to which Rick ends up saving Hershel from the Walker coming up from behind).

I don't understand why writers don't use reality as a way of inspiring the story. Their limited supply should be something that is constantly on their mind.

A few episodes without ammo might put them in a pretty tense situation.
