The Walking Dead Season 5 Discussion (Spoilers)

Ok, but have Rick cut off the head. Why the guts? That does nothing. It's illogical. Like the whole episode.

Again, to meet the "must have zombie gore quota." Not much gore from severing the head (as we've seen many times).

Besides, I was joking. I guess the humor didn't come through well enough. :/

Tyreese is such a badass in the comics. I loved his comic book character. But in the show he is just a neutered shell of the comic book version.

I realized what has been bugging me about who they are and are not killing off in the show. In the comic, they have enough interesting characters to where they can kill off a character who is universally loved, but you can expect someone to fill their shoes fairly quickly. It really does make it feel like nobody is safe because people are dying left and right, but Kirkman balances that by bringing in new people on a regular basis.

In the show, it seems like they've rolled a bunch of badass characters into Daryl and Carol and some of the other character arcs suffer because of that (like Tyreese). They need to spread the love (and flaws) to the other characters. Kirkman has said that Daryl is his favorite addition to the show, and it shows... maybe a bit too much.

It is a drama about living and dying, they should not be afraid to kill off ANY character at ANY time, no matter how cool that character is or how big of a following they have.

I can't help but feel Tyresse is going to go out ala Glenn from issue 100.

They had their wrap party two weeks ago, but some of the cast were still filming parts of the finale a little over a week ago. If I recall they finished filming episode 12 in October.
Pretty much all of episode 12 was filmed in the Alexandria Safe Zone from the comics. As for you heard he hasn't been on set for awhile, you are correct. I won't say which episode *yet*

Actually, no, it is legit. Because if you are planning on watching something and you don't want spoilers, you'd know not to go onto a website where you know there's going to be massives amounts of spoilers until after you see it. It's like coming here to the RPF and seeing a post that has a spoiler warning in the title, and then getting ticked off at the person who created the thread because you decided to click on it and look at the spoilers.
Totally not legit. The Walking Dead posted to Facebook an image spoiling the episode prior to it even finishing airing on the east coast - and way before west coast and other areas without any regard for those viewers and setting a precedent, as they had done nothing like this in the past. Many of us didn't logon to their page - it merely showed up in their newsfeed (in my case, it popped after I was warned about it, 18 minutes after they posted - thanks to Facebook's stupid method of post sorting).

its ridiculous that they posted something like this. Period. Thousands of people have expressed their outrage and disappointment - it's not like a friend posted something - this was an image with a tag that gave away the ending.... It's bad form and ticked off many of their viewers.

Again, you go on Facebook, you risk your spoilers! It doesn't matter where the spoilers comes from, be it from an official place like AMC or your family member or a classmate or your boss from work. There is no difference. Spoilers via Facebook is still spoilers via Facebook. You go on Facebook any time before, during or after the airing of the episode, you risk your spoilers!

Yeah, not sure I agree - I mean can you imagine the outrage if the official Star Wars Facebook page told us who lives and dies in the next film. I think people have a reasonable expectation that liking an official FB page won't spoil their viewing experience. A lot of media outlets seem to think so:

Sounds like whoever is running their facebook got bored and decided to jump the gun a few hours early. I could see if it's a fan who does it but it's pretty dumb when you're spoiling an episode of your own tv show.

Yeah, I would think official pages would be all about getting likes for maximum marketing and outreach - having a policy of posting spoilers before an episode airs seems pretty counterintuitive to that goal.

There is no difference? That's flawed logic and the thousands of ticked off fans prove that. Your job as a social media person for a major TV show is not to **** off your fans.

Yes, I think it's right to expect that from friends - but as I outlined above, it's not something that an official page promoting the show is Should do if they want a successful show and web presence. Posting spoilers before its aired in major areas is just stupid and unjustifiable.

Spoilers via Facebook are still spoilers via Facebook. It's not just the responsibility of the person charge of the social media who made the post. The thousands from the West Coast chose to go on Facebook at that time, knowing they were an hour behind the East Coast feed, are just as responsible for them being spoiled as whoever it was that posted the image. If you're going to lay blame, you got to take your responsibility for your part as well. Again, you go on Facebook before, during or shortly after The Walking Dead airs, knowing that there's going to be spoilers, you risk your spoilers. And to assume there would be no spoilers, from anyone, on Facebook is just plain gullibility.

I'm sorry, but if you're expecting me to feel sorry for thousands of people who are just as responsible for their spoiling as the person who posted the picture, I have to admit I can't. Again, the image stands true: if you go onto Facebook before, during or shortly after The Walking Dead, you risk your spoilers.

On the whole I found the episode rather boring. I loved the bit before the credits with Rick running into the cop, shooting him, and telling him to shut up but after that there were a couple long dull conversations between Beth and Captain Bitch and then Tyreese and Sasha, a scene where Carl, Michonne, and Father Ineffectual stand around talking while the walkers are pounding on the fragile looking door then looking dumbly surprised when they break through - this was of course preceded by the scene where the Father looks at things on the ground while walkers pound on a fragile looking glass door and then break through.

To top it all off Beth turns into a complete idiot and stabs the well armed and clearly off her rocker Captain of the rapist squad and gets herself all dead. What a totally worthless death for a sweet and underused character. I will miss Emily Kinney but I hope she gets a better role with more to do.

Oh and spoilers were built into the internet as part of the original design, if you don't want spoilers don't go on the internet.

A) Yes, the FB spoiler was a huge gaffe and I'm sure someone got fired for it--rightfully so.

B) Was ANYONE surprised Beth died? There was really no doubt in my mind. (Not that that negates fans' justifiable annoyance at being spoiled...I'm just saying, it wasn't all that much of a surprise).

Again, the image stands true: if you go onto Facebook before, during or shortly after The Walking Dead, you risk your spoilers.

From fans and friends, absolutely. But the show's own official page? Not really following the logic here. Should I reasonably expect to have the next Star Wars movie ruined for me if I like their official Facebook page?

Way to flub a mid season finale :facepalm

After the awesomely cold cold open, they could have had Rick demanding to go with his original shoot 'em up plan and getting Beth killed as a result. That would have set up a big tension between the increasingly psychotic Rick and the others (particularly Daryl), provided a big mid-season finale impact and opened up a lot of dramatic possibilities for the second half of the season. Instead, they blew away a decent character with no impact or drama, and wasted half a season getting there. I thought the show had got beyond crap like this.

Here's what the writers should start saying in the interviews from now on:

"Nobody is safe, unless they are a really popular character"

This was just posted on the official FB page

We heard your feedback to last night’s post, and we’re sorry. With zero negative intent, we jumped the gun and put up a spoiler. Please know we’re going to work to ensure that, in the future, possible spoilers by official AMC social feeds are killed before they can infect, certainly before the West Coast (U.S.) broadcast of The Walking Dead. As always, thank you for watching, and keep the comments coming. We appreciate all of your support. ‪#‎RIPSpoiler‬

I liked Beth a lot more than I like her sister Maggie or the stupid preacher, or Tyrease or his sister, or Judith,Or anyone on that "bus/firetruck", with the exception of Glenn.
I guess the only characters left I care for is Rick,Carl,Daryl,Glen,Carol. I thought Beth and Daryl would get together...Now they've got that psycho red headed dude to keep on a leash, and the retard/panty waste, Eugene to care for!!! Forgot about Morgan! Morgan is a great character! Hope he rejoins the group soon.

Don't even start me on them GOING INTO THE HOSPITAL to do the exchange. I wanted them to all be surrounded and slaughtered for being so stupid. Did they clear every room and hallway behind them? No? Gobsmackingly dumb.

Thank you! I said the same thing, I screamed "WTH are you doing?!?!" at that part. I think at least half, if not more, of the audience knows you don't do an exchange on the other sides' territory...

Oh and someone needs to tell them to stop having the characters use their weapons as hammers. There are hammers EVERYWHERE.
