The Walking Dead Season 4

Am I the only one who's slightly annoyed by the dueling story lines? It's like the writers can't come up with enough story for one set of characters so now they have to break the show up into two groups....dumb...I really had hoped that with the evacuation of Mayberry (lol I know it's Woodbury) that the story line would return to focus on the main group...and just when things started to get interesting, nope, they changed directions again...I mean, I could see a return of the pirate, but not a need for a separate story line about him...

I think WD started out great when it focused strictly on one group. Things used to move, things used to happen, it wasn't like they always had to limp the story along from week to week like they do now.

I don't know...with the lack of focus and plot development, I've just lost any desire to stay up to watch it on the night it airs and instead catch it on On Demand at my convenience.

End Rant.

I like the dual story line, it's kind of nice to get a bit of a break from the gang at the prison, besides, you know that the two story lines are going to merge sooner or later. Anyway, like everybody else, I don't see this ultimately ending well for the Governor, definitely no happily ever after for him and his new "family". I think we're either going to see the Gov. eventually run into Rick & co. again and be seriously mistrusted by them, mistrusted to the point that it's going to probably cause harm to his new family and cause him to go nuts. It's either that or the Governor is going to make a heroic sacrifice in order to save his new found "family" and they'll probably end up in the prison and everybody there will belatedly realize that the Governor had indeed turned a new leaf in the end.

Am I the only one who is waiting for him to completely snap in front of his new girlfriend and the other girls and they realize he's bat-crap insane?

I'm almost to the point of giving up on The Walking Dead. This season (and most of last season) have been a big plate of "meh" to me.

Separate story lines can be great if done well. I think when the two groups find each other, and we know that will happen, it will be great. One of the problems I had with the new BSG, was sometimes the stories separated the group for too long and they just kind of fizzled out

I agree. I'm happy to follow a subplot for awhile. And I think the Governor is really charismatic, so I enjoy seeing him again. He's more interesting to me than most of the jail crew, now that Carol is gone (and I hope she returns!).

Finally watched this week's episode. One of the best I have seen in quite a while. I HATED the Governor in the comic; so one dimensional and cartoony. I haven't been a big fan of him so far, but I like that they are actually making an attempt to round him out and make him more interesting.

To me, this all comes across as a 'slow burn' which has equal opportunity to fizzle out as it does to explode. But seriously, with the webisodes, the story with the governor, AND the root crew who started it all....it's just lacking serious focus (IMO).

I wish they'd get back to the root problem and steer clear from the soap opera style stories that have plagued the series since last season.

Seriously, where are all the other people? where's the military? if they are all alone, and the last hold outs of this virus, then lets focus on that and the despair involved with that.

Yeah, I understand the slow burn, rounding out the character. I didn't like it...but the ending was good. Just please let Michonne chop his head off.

I'll put it in the spoiler tags just in case anyone does't want to see it.

But if you wanna see the Guvs new toy and to see if he's changing or not then click away
This will be heading to the prison by the mid finale

I figured that was coming
I'm also wondering if Beth will be the stand in for Lori in that scene from the comics where Lori gets shot and the baby dies as well. The writers/producers would be pretty ballsy if they did that

I couldnt say better, thats exactly how I feel with the show now. Its not a survival story anymore, its more of a drama around some characterts, some may be interested for others no one cares.
I dont expect to see zombie fights in each episode, but a slow progress in the main story. This was my favorite show during the first 2 seasons, but not anymore, it goes towards been a soap opera, we have enough of those.

I'm sorry to say that I have to agree with Monster Dave ... Even if only in part. I had high hopes with new writers that S4 was going to get back on track and get away from these overly melodramatic scenes. The Gov subplot could've been interesting by answering everyones questions about what happened after they drove off. Instead it shows him with virtually no will to live yet surviving alone in an unprotected tent, walking for however long, and not even bothering to kill nearby zombies. Yet the prison is seeing more zombies then ever before, and a megaherd? Where are all these walkers on Govs journey?

So now he has a new psuedo-family, that somehow managed to survive 3yrs in an apartment without any zombie killing skills nor basic understanding of how to live in the new world. Really? Then there's obligatory hot younger sister that's both obnoxious and pathetic ... And what's with, after the truck breaking down (of course) and everyone is walking down the road talking loudly ignoring the little girl 20+ feet behind them and droping back further, the idiot sister amazingly triping on nothing and twisting her ankle?? I can't be the only one that yelled at the TV, "If you f*#@ing tied your boots up that wouldn't have happened!!!" Then they see a small group of walkers and rather then quitely sneaking past them they all start screaming? And how many times throughout this entire series do we keep seeing people touch each other when they're covered in blood? You'd have to be pretty ignorant to do that today let alone during a highly contagious, unknown vector thats reanimating the dead. They need to take a page from the Hitchhiker's Guide and carry a towel.

I think the last time I was really excited about WD was when Rick came across Morgan. That was I think one of the best episodes of last season because it went back to the root of what makes this show so freak'n good.

Now we're back to the soap opera story of a Cowboy vs. a Pirate. lol

Season 4 looked like it was going to be some huge action-packed survivalist juggernaut at the beginning of the season. As soon as the Governor (more like "boring-nor" yes, nailed it) came in I was automatically like "oh man, this season is about to go downhill really fast."

The Governor in the comic added such a huge threat. The TV character is just a sterilized sociopath.

Not sure if anyone is interested but tfaw.com is having a huge sale on their comics. I just got Vol 2 and 3 of TWD hardcovers for 10 bucks each in their nick and dent section. They're normally 35. I've always ordered nick and dent from them, and honestly most of the time can't tell why they were reduced. The later volumes are $17.00 a piece, but I'm hoping they drop more next week as their sale is a three week progressive sale.
