The Walking Dead Season 4

An improvement over last season's logic of the survivors in "Walking Dead." I'm not sold though, they've done well with season openers but then things flat line faster than a bite victim. Glad to see the group is using better tactics overall, have reinforced areas and developed that wicked angled gate with the punji sticks arrays. Regular clearing of the fences, established some crops and livestock, gathering rain water. With all that though, I don't get why Herschel, not a veteran (thanks Lori) but an actual veterinarian, didn't check out the pig. Seems like it's the kind of thing that he'd be suited for. Also, people who demonstrate sickness of any sort should be immediately quarantined from the rest of the populace to ensure a pandemic doesn't occur. One bad flu outbreak and they're as good as dead. Lastly, they've got this nice cell door structure, I'm hoping they are securing them at night somehow. It doesn't have to stop a thinking person, but properly closed it'll keep walkers from getting to them.

Actually, you can blame Rick and Carl for that. I don't think they even brought it up to Hershel, and by the way it came off, they thought it was something that the pig would eventually work out of its system. At the end of the episode, Rick had a look of surprise on his face when he found the same pig dead. Kinda of dumb move in my opinion, especially since the pig is something they were raising for food.

I don't know why you guys are getting bored with certain episodes. It isn't a 24/7 zombie massacre. There are other crucial things going on. I personally would have stopped watching seasons ago if it was just zombie massacre after zombie massacre.
I wasn't anywhere near boredom with tonight's episode.

Oh good lord! What do you people want- non stop zombie killing peril? Play a video game!!! I for one was not bored. My biggest complaint is that all the character development seems to happen between seasons because it doesn't involve the constant barrage of walkers most want! The issue here is that people always need "bigger, faster, more intense." Thats why the horror genre is flooded with over the top torture gore and lousy remakes and sequels.

Because people these days are more desensitized to having actual story and character in their zombie films, where most zombie films nowadays only involve fast-paced zombie killing and little plot. I bet if you showed someone nowadays the original "Dawn of the Dead", they'd complain about how slow it is.

Does one really need to mark one's post spoiler in a thread labeled, "Walking Dead season 4?"

C'mon, if someone doesn't have enough sense to avoid the title if they haven't seen the show yet, they rather deserve the disappointment. Just saying there comes a point where we're trying a little too hard to protect people from themselves.

That said, I liked the opener! :cool

I enjoyed the guest stars tonight; Vincent Martella is the voice of Phineas from Phineas and Ferb, while Kyle Gallner was good on Veronica Mars...

Yeah, which is my point. It was completely logic-less. "We've got a sick looking pig. Maybe someone should look at it? Yeah, let's get a mechanic to look at it and determine if everything is okay." That pretty much might as well have happened. The fact they have livestock, and a man who operated on and cared for life stock in every conceivable matter of their health is available, that it didn't even come up. Stupid as ****.

I don't really like the original Dawn of the Dead. Not because it's slower, but because it just doesn't have the gravitas of the newer one.

Yes, ^this^...

...And ^this^. I was quite satisfied with the episode. Can't wait for next week.

Something must be up with the way that pig died, and the kid in the shower. Some sort of contagion. Interesting that Darryl licked his fingers before shaking that dudes hand.
And I hadn't even thought of that, even though when it happened, I was immediately fixated on it, & even commented to my wife that I would've forgone the handshake at that particular time. :sick

THE COMMERCIAL KILL THE SHOW!!!!! 35 min of adds destroy the pace!! it is the best thing on TV ...IMO...but wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who's to say Hershel didn't know about the sick pig? Because they didn't show it? People would really complain if the show was about farming! I'm sure he had been down there a time or two because well, they're raising farm animals. I'm sure he's walked down there before. They don't have to show everything. I'm glad Hershel finally got his accessory. Probably complained about the crutches.
I think the show wanted and needed to show that they have established a community at the prison, although I didn't think it was slow at all.

I'm just glad the Walkers are Walkers, not runners, leapers, sprinters, flyers, etc...

I will agree that it was a bit of a slow premiere. But there's method to their madness....I think they want to show how the group has settled into somewhat of a routine, how everyone is relatively comfy in their new digs (I still wonder why they just didn't take over Woodbury)....and now this new threat. They're building up to something...hopefully.

I'm just wonderin' if Rick and Michone have a 'thang goin' on...

(I still wonder why they just didn't take over Woodbury)....

I believe they said (not in the show, but in interviews) that the Governor would know too many ins and outs of Woodbury and so it would be more vulnerable against him than the prison. At least, that was the explanation I think I read...

I enjoyed the opener just wanted more character development with the new cast than the filler chic that Rick met in the woods.

Okay so let's say that the deer Darryl killed is the cause of this kids infection. We've also seen the pig die unexpectedly. This would lead me to believe that the animals are starting to carry the virus. It would be an interesting story device as it would take away or severely limit the main thing they all need. Of course the animals never have it in the comic because Kirkman doesn't like drawing animals.

If something happens to Darryl, I think they'd have a riot on their hands.

I think you missed the point. A show about farming a little OTT. If hershal had seen the pig. Being a vet. he surley would have thought there was something wrong and he would have had the pig removed due to contamination. Animals carry disease so regarless if it was the walker disease or any other. Its a plot hole..... thats what people are saying. The whole point of a vet seing a sick animal and not being worried or removing it doesnt make sense. Weather or not they showed it....

That was one of my gripes as well...We have a friggin FARM VET and no one thinks to have him look at this sick pig? Also, with the world being the way it is you'd think the rules would include...if you don't feel well you get quarantined fo 72 hours just in case.
