The Walking Dead Season 2 Trailer

Boy, I guess I should be careful what I wish for... when the episode started, I was really saying "God, they REALLY need to start Shane on some character evolution."

Not exactly what I expected, but it does cement the idea that he's really not as nice a guy as people think.

When he got back and told about how Otis was lost, I was like, "Something's not right. He must be leaving something out." My mom and dad were disagreeing with me, saying that Shane is not the kind of guy who would shoot someone so he could get away. I mentioned in the comic about how close he came to killing Rick but was stopped by Carl. They still said, "Nope. Not likely." Then we see what happened, I was like, "So... you were saying about Shane not shooting someone to get away?"

Can't say the ending surprised me. I thought it when they were on the bleachers, which one thinks of it first. The wife says, "nah". Then a few minutes later says "well, maybe".

Great episode - I like Shane more and more. They both would have died anyway so it was a good choice - saved not only himself but the kid as well (who was only going to die thanks to Otis) :thumbsup

Logically, it was the right call. Otis was responsible for them being there, was responsible for shooting Carl, and said he wanted to do whatever needed to set things right. I knew Shane did something from the start of the episode he was trying to escape, and when it showed them both limping away from a crowd, I immediately thought of the joke:

Two hikers meet a hungry bear in the woods. One starts running away, the other stops and puts on some running shoes. The first asks the second what he is doing, they need to run away from the bear. The second says, "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just need to outrun you."

ZING!

Yup, that's Shane. He was going to kill Rick in the first season and only barely kept from squeezing the trigger then. While he should be dead now, this is the logical progression for him. He's not a good guy. He made the choices to survive, but I don't doubt he'd sacrifice others to live another day. While it was the logical choice for him to sacrifice Otis that at least he and maybe Carl would survive, it's going to further drive him to the point they'll have to veer back onto the comic storyline for him.

Definitely wasn't expecting for Shane to shoot Otis. I can understand why, they're both limping, no ammo, zombies are gaining fast. It was either Shane shoots Otis then while he has time to grab the bag, or they both get eaten. I'm just surprised Shane decided to shoot Otis in the leg and not the head. Even though he'd be dead. I'm pretty sure the zombies would still stop and eat him.

This just all goes to show that the show can deviate from the comics easily. Also that the writers seemed to have adopted Kirkmans "any one can die, at any time" policy.

Which goes to show he's not that nice...he's still the high school "bad boy".

Also, isn't shaving one's head movie/TV symbolism for dramatic change?

Am I the only one ticked that Shane is still alive?

...this move has me contemplating not watching the show. I generally am Okay with changing aspects between different media (as long as you keep the 'heart' of it intact)... but, I think not having Carl behind Shane's death cheapens the show a bit.

You're not alone -_-. I'm a hard core fan of the comics, and am not liking some of the changes....Shane being dragged out is one of them.

But...from page to screen can be tricky, and Shane was killed off fairly fast, without too much draw-out in the comics. It was just like: Rick comes back - Shane gets offended - Rick finds out through Dale - Shane goes off - BANG!DEAD!

So for "drama" purposes, they're stalling with it.

Also didn't understand Sophia getting lost...did the little girl have an off-screen obligation for a long time, or something?? :confused

Otherwise, I'm lovin' the show. Greg Nicatero's zombies are some of my favorites yet! And the CDC addition is starting to grow on me. Even though they STILL don't know how the disease really works in the comics...

Hopefully the little girl zombies up and eats the annoying mother.

Sadly I found myself fast-forwarding a bit of the latest episode. The Tales of Cryin' Rick and the Shot Kid bores me to death.

Andrew Lincoln and Sarah Wayne managed to draw a few cringes out of me this episode. They're just doing what they can with the script I'm sure, but the whole thing was just way too dragged out.

That said, Daryl is certainly turning out to be more than he first appeared. I wish more time was spent on the crew back at the road.

I think I've figured it out the title The Walking Dead doesn't refer to the zombies, it's about the pace of the plot. It's a good show... but, man do they drag it out.

I understand plot and character development and all that... but, the 'isn't that convenient' factors really stand out. The latest, greatest examples being that Carl gets shot and it just so happens there's a doctor in house nearby (albeit a vet) and then, they need a respirator and it just so happens that there's one close enough for Shane to go get it.

It moves the plot along and makes for some great character development, but it sure sticks out like a sore thumb at times.

I was also trying to figure out why Shane didn't just shoot Otis in the head. Either he thought he'd be more of a distraction to them alive, or he's just a sadistic son of a gun.

Did anyone notice Daryl is being carried in one of the previews? He's being carried by Rick and Shane I think. Hopefully he doesn't bite the bullet this season.

Ive got a great idea, run over zombies with vehicles, get medical supplies, make the fat people go on diets.

ANd was it just me or did AMC turn up the darkness on the broadcast last night? It was like watching tv through a sheet at times.

At first I thought the bulb on my projector was failing fast, but whenever the commercials came on, everything looked fine. So no, it wasn't just you.

Yeah, when Maggie handed him the clothes and made the comment about them not fitting, my mom goes "way to make him feel guilty." She was completely convinced that he could never do anything wrong. Her look of shock at the ending was pure gold.

How about wear some clothing that can't be easily bitten through? I'd like to see a random zombie bite through some leather gloves or a leather jacket. Of course, it's much more sensible to go around wearing a white singlet with bare arms.

Run around in Georgia in the summer in a leather jacket and Zombies would not have to eat you because you would die of heat stoke.:eek

Rob...
BIG AMEN to that!!!

Doesn't work. You can hit a bunch of zombies, shattering rib cages and an arm, maybe a couple legs, but the zombie doesn't care and will keep moving unless you get lucky enough to damage the brain. To do enough damage you have to be moving at a pretty good clip, and the zombie is entirely likely to come up into the windshield quickly making it hard to see or having one go through it into the driver's area. Not to mention you keep hitting bodies you're going to start doing damage to the car, hitting one body no problem, but multiples is going to cause your car to become difficult to drive. You may even end up getting a walker stuck in the wheel well, and that may then impact your ability to turn or get any movement. Hope you aren't surrounded by walkers. Thinking a car is a zombie killing tank is a rookie mistake and a quick way to get stuck in a crowd of walkers.

Now if you can afford the gas for a tank, or can secure the cab of a tracked vehicle like a bulldozer, yeah, you can do a good job of turning them into paste very quickly, though being slow and a diesel guzzler. A reinforced semi truck may also work, but you'd need a good cow catcher to keep things from getting into wheel wells as well.

Especially during the summer. Fall and winter is an entirely different story (depending on the temperature of the day).

I'm not certain they've established the walkers will go after recently dead people as much as they'd go after a screaming, writhing meal. That's probably what Shane was thinking.
