The Walking Dead Season 2 Trailer

I'm still waiting for the crazy one handed redneck to come back on the scene looking for retribution.

And still rather disappointed that the group didn't bother collecting any military weaponry outside the CDC.

I don't understand why nobody is using a .22lr pistol, or rifle. The ammo is plentiful, with a low report compared to a center-fire cartridge, especially Rick's .357 Python. It has a low recoil making it easy to aim and keep on target, and a .22 does a lot of damage in the skull easily putting down a Walker. Plus you can carry a large quantity in a small space. There was a Ruger .22 rifle in the armory Rick raided in the pilot, but Rick didn't take it. Many times Police departments will have a silenced .22 to deal with dangerous animals without alarming the public, or the drug dealers they are about to raid.

But does the .22 penetrate the skull reliably? Sure, go through the eye socket and you will probably get it to bounce around a few times, but then you're taking a head sized target and bringing it down to an eye socket, and there's still bone behind the eye it'd have to penetrate. Shooting a wild animal that still has to worry about organ damage and blood loss doesn't equate to putting down a walker that only has a vulnerable spot behind quarter inch bone.

Add in that it is not dramatic to show .22's.
I used to shoot holes in 4x4 fence posts with .22 magnums, so I could see it, but every gun in movies and tv has to sound like artillery.
I'm still thinking these idiots have a bitten girl lying in the bed and they haven't checked her out.

They may sound like artillery but they don't well represent the actual VOLUME of it. Cuz ******* are guns loud. Popping off a few rounds from the .357 indoors is liable to screw up your hearing for a good little bit.

I actually thought it was a nice touch when Rick fired the gun in the tank. Something a lot of shows miss out on.
I'd be packing a .22lr Rifle all day long but it just doesn't make for good TV. It'd be an equivalent of them shooting airsoft guns on screen, not all that exciting.

In this instance I believe the train of thought is stick with what you know as far as weapons. Do you really want to lug a rifle around like an M4 that needs attention on a regular basis or what your used to and know inside out?

I do know I would have picked up a couple M4's just to mess with, lol.

But does the .22 penetrate the skull reliably? \

A .22lr can easily penetrate the human skull. A benefit, is that after penetration, the .22 bullet tends to ricochet around the inside of the skull doing massive damage. Although there have be cases of the .22 penetrating the skull, following the inside of the skull, and passing out of the other side with minimum damage. But the odds favor putting them down, especially if you use a hollow-point bullet.

Looking forward to seeing T.V. Rick turn into comic Rick.

It's more a matter of finding the weapons. I mean chances are the only way theyre gonna find weapons is off other survivors or searching through houses. They're not gonna find a .22LR on any military personnel and I doubt an AR platform is something Herschel would have lying about.
