The Walking Dead: Dale's Winnebago

A while back I created a global search engine for Craigslist. I just ran it again and got these results:

Looks good!
1973 Winnebago needs front brakes is all. needSold asap asking$1200obo

and some more:
1973 Winnebago Chieftan
1973 Winnebago

there were others but they were *really* bad or the interiors were remodelled

Nice job. I also utilize a global craigslist search which is VERY useful. Unfortunately, I too got excited by those same listings only to discover that none of them are the D-27C so the floorplans don't work.

I'm still feeling like the one in San Antonio is the closest thing out there right now. Winnebago 1973

So the guy in San Antonio says it's not in good enough shape to make the drive to Ohio. D'oh!! Back to the drawing board.

Is the one on the right wider?

You realize that if you do this, we are going to have to drive it back to Ohio in costume and document it right?

I think the one might have got distorted during my efforts to create that side by side.

As for a documented Walking Dead road trip. I honestly can't think of a better idea. Lol

Is it just me, or is the side door missing on the one on the right? Also, notice the 4 black vertical lines above the drivers window on Dales RV? is that a vent?

Your not crazy. I mirrored the right image so I could have the same view in pointing out the evtra hood vents. On that note, I got a response from the Winnebago guy. He has no records of the Chieftains ever having those "in-between" hood vents. It must have been an aftermarket thing.

Here's the latest frustration in my search. I've currently got an email out to my Winnebago guy about this detail. I'm noticing that the RV in the show has extra vents in the hoods. Check out this side by side comparison with the one from the show and the one's I'm seeing elsewhere. Perhaps the vents are from a modded or aftermarket hood.

I probably have no idea what I’m talking about but are you sure those are vents? From the picture they could be the remnants of park/campground/registration stickers.

Edit: sure enough I do have no clue what I am talking about. This bigger, clearer shot shows the vents. Ignore me.

What part if Ohio are you in? Pittsburgh Craigslist has a few cheep ones although Probally not the right model.

I would watch the show again, I found a lot of rv use that space between the grills for vessel id numbers for things like camping spots or lakes.

I tried google imaging them and didn't see any with those vents. Makes you wonder whatever happend with the real one. It went up with the barn in the show I believe. Or did it?

Dale's RV did NOT go up in flames! I got to see it at NYCC and it was awesome!! They even had a fake Dale on top of the RV with Zombies around it :)

I wonder what AMC did with it! Maybe it's up for sale!

Very funny that you mentioned that. I actually have emails out to reps from NYCC trying to locate the AMC handlers of that RV. Pretty sure that was just a replica and not the ACTUAL RV just because it looked way to clean to be the one from the show.

On a side note, through a Walking Dead insider, I learned there were actually 3 RVs. One was burnt up with the barn (My Winnebago guy determined that it wasn't even a Chieftain but rather it was the shorter Winnebago Brave that they burned). The other two I assumed they used for driving shots and for parked shots. The only credible location I have for one of the actual RVs is several months old. It was reported to be parked on a lot at Raleigh Studios in Georgia behind the Prison set. Whether or not its still there can't really be confirmed till the crew returns to Georgia in May. We'll see....

I've been looking for leads for you also. Not easy lotta people seem to just list motor home Winnebago with no picture or no real info. Although the prices seem fairly reasonable
