The Ultimate Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Project

Does anyone know for certain what's on the inside of the shoe? Because there is a definitive toe crease as if he is using a kung fu type slipper.
There's a custom-made boot inside the shoe, it's not an off-the-shelf item.

The stunt soles--which I saw in-person but wasn't able to look at the tread pattern on, might be cast appliances molded to hold the vans outsole tread pattern-- not unmodified vans themselves. You can tell from the way the pattern runs off the edge and the overall thinness of the layer that they are at least modified heavily.

The shoe construction is as follows, from inner to outer:
(1) custom inner boot and support structure, then fabric and webbing, then a thin red sole, and finally thicker black sole. On the hero suit, the final outsole is cast with the snazzy web tread pattern and holes that reveal the red sole beneath. On the stunt suit, the final sole uses the more grippy vans tread pattern with no holes, presumably for better traction. That would also lend some credence to them using and modifying the sole of the vans shoe itself, for the benefit and durability of the tread material in providing grip.

A pair of Vans Era's, for example, could be cannibalized to make the stunt outsole by cutting the new profile out of the sole.

Like you said Luna, those differences in soles is clearer now with the photos and the hero vs. stunt has inner differences too. Because this one reference photo has not toe demarcation line like I have seen in others using the custom web sole.

Do you have a picture showing this so-called 'toe demarcation line"? Are you sure it's not just a fold in the shoe upper?

I cannot recall where I had seen it since reviewing hundreds of posts and photos. Could have even been from the film since I went three times. There is no doubt in my mind it was there. Between the 1st and second distal phalanges. If I come across it again I will be sure to add it here for reference. Consider it a gift of mine because of my professional occupation ;-)

If you Zoom in Lunaman there is the recess that I was referring to. Could still be the custom made insert like you mentioned but on my Kung Fu shoe insert it is makes the same profile.
Ah, between the toes at the front, I thought you meant on the top of the foot.

The 'split' or 'recess' there isn't too extreme, it can get played up by the light reflecting off the fabric surface in that location. That's where the front vertical seam is on the boot fabric (one seam was coming apart there on the screen-used suit), so it wouldn't surprise me if there's a small inlet/channel in the shoe insert to let the seam lie flatter there, the way MCL34N includes seam channels on his faceshells.

Correct. And I see what you mean now. Well, anything is possible I guess. I have met the creative team that developed props for Star Wars and these guys had so much fun collaborating. Not much different than we are. I believe that custom inner boot is soft in the front to allow flex of the midfoot and firm in the heel cup for added support. That crease definitively shows the 1st toe delineation, along with the navicular and cuneiform. I would be willing to bet its a barefoot runner style.

thanks for the heads up on the shooters, they for sure can work, however, might just be a little small size wise. but for that price, I might just pick one up and see how it looks like.

Well, about the shoe, I haven't decided on a set part of shoe yet, but what I have decided on is that I'll definitelly use the more ribbed vans type of sole, just because I actually like the grittier look to it, also while doin that, I might aswell just see how the shoe itself'll look inside the suit, if I like the look, I might just stick with it.

But those are all later parts that I'll be tackling, the main objective right now is to find as close a red as possible for the suit. After the exams finish up, I'll continue on with the search.

Feel free to share any ideas you guys have, I check back to the thread and read every comment and suggestion even though I sometimes do not answer immediatelly, I do so when I have the available time.

This thread is not to share a TASM2 build, but more on collaborating to get as close as possible to the screen used suit as possible, so thinker away, the more we collaborate on this the better off will be the end result :thumbsup

So guys, I was looing through youtube, and found this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEmgOxcXElM

Anyone know if this guy is a member here? it is the closest red I've seen found so far, really interested to see the source

I dont know. On my phone i cant see him name.
But in therpf is a guy doing screen print try.

But u cant get such a color/light reflect by printing a pattern on a fabric.

It looks like he is using nylon spandex (would be my choice).
Etsy offers good colors. Pretty close to the movie.

Aron;

yeah, I know that that is not a print pattern to white lycra, in the video he shows the honeycomb brick screen print effect on the blue fabric and behind it u can clearly see that gorgeous red I believe he will use for the red portions of the suit. I ve been trying to find a red fabric akin to that with no avail, so was wondering where he got the fabric ;)

Jasonsshin;

Thanks for the facebook link, hmm, that man of steel suit looks familiar to a member here who posted his progress over on masked riders progress thread, wait, I'm sure I can find his forum name.

I wrote him in fb :) he has 3 orders already. He can do the suit custom on ur size too. Also te faceshell.
Suit includes suit, faceshell, soles,shoes and needs 2 months to build. :)

He will update his pics on fb when he has more progress.
