The Twilight Zone

Im actully working on a figure in the style of him its still rough but if all goes well it will look very close to him.

The paul winchell book is a book on learning to be a ventriloquist and has info on makeing a cheap dummy.I dont have it I just know back then alot of people bought it.

Ill be posting pics of my projects this week.

Any progress on this yet? I saw a puppet at a flea market that reminded me of Goofy Goggles in a way and decided to check this thread. By the way, does anyone have screenshots of Goofy Goggles? I tried googling him, but nothing comes up. When I tried Youtube, the only TZ episode featuring a dummy is the one with Willy and the little girl.

.
From the looks of willy he doesnt look like he was made by a pro figure maker.I think the prop department made him from from how to instructions from magazines.Back in those days anyone who wanted to make a ventriloquist figure read popular mechanics and the paul winchell book.

Billy, is this the book your were referring to?

I found this DVD - I could have sworn I saw it in book form elsewhere, but can't find it now.

I'm still a little surprised we don't have a licensed 1:1 Talkie Tina doll. The bobblehead is OK I guess...but it's kind of a let down in a way....it's like, they KNOW there is some kind of a market for that particular character from that particulare show/episode, yet they make it a stinkin' bobblehead and not a full-size replica doll?!
Granted, producing and manufacturing a bobblehead may be FAR less expensive than doing a 1:1 scale electronic doll replica, but I'm down to say ANY Twilight Zone fan - who has the money - would be ALL OVER a TT doll if they were ever made....
OK, enough ranting. Time for a Cerial break....

Well, there is a company making 8" cloth-costumed Twilight Zone figures. I know that they have been doing extensive research into what they are and are not allowed to do with this license. One of the issues with creating a 1:1 Tina is that the show used a Brikette doll, and and there could be some copyright infringement if they just make a copy of the doll. I'm sure that if there's a way to do a TT replica, they'll do their best to make it happen.

What about a Mystic Seer? I know there's no copyright infringement there. Why can't I get a working, full sized one? Rather than a bobble head.

I don't know. They haven't announced one yet. I sent the guy from Bif Bang Pow a pretty big wishlist. But they might also just be focusing on figure-type stuff at the moment.

So is there any chance someone could get some clear screenshots of Willie, Goofy Goggles, and the one from the ending(I guess we'd call him Jerry)?

Bizarro Lois yep im a figure maker im going into buisness makeing puppets.

I was told about the makeup by a ventriloquist who saw him years ago.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I found a reprinted version of "Ventriloquism for Fun and Profit" for a decent price. It seems like the original is kind of pricey. I'm assuming this is what you mean by the Winchell book, as the only other books I can find by him are autobiographies.
Once Talky Tina and my Halloween costume are done, I'll be checking this out to see how I could start making a dummy. I'll probably go for a sculpted head, cast in resin, as I have no experience carving wood.

I figured I'd just bump this thread, since I just have a question for now. Once I'm ready to start building I'll start a new one.
What would be a good material to make the masks from? They seem semi-rigid, but there's a little give. Would they be something like paper mâché? Would plastic be more likely? This is going to sound silly, but was stuff vac-formed back then?

I have been collecting and making TZ props for a few years because it is my favorite series of all time. I built a Mystic Seer, Talky Tina, the keychain from "Black Leather Jackets" and I have collected some found items, including Billys toy phone from "Long Distance Call," an Ericophone (from multiple episodes) and Gregory West's dictaphone machine from "A World of His Own" (a $20 swap meet find)

I decided to try and replicate the ring from "Ring-A-Ding Girl" since it seems rather easy to do, and I think it is a highly underrated episode. So - of course - I have found a way to turn an easy project into a difficult one. I stated thinking about making the large "opal" hollow and filling it with some kind of liquid or gel and some dust or something so that when the ring is moved, this all gets stirred up and gives the ring a slight cloudy effect, as if it were about to send Bunny Blake another message.

I am not really sure how to do this. Most things I have thought of would just make it murky or diffuse, without any real discernible movement. I basically want to build a miniature snow-globe effect, but I have to put something small enough in the ring to create that effect. It's only the size of a kids marble, so the "snow" would have to be a really fine powder that would stay powdery in liquid, but light enough to move or swirl when shaken. Just figured I would toss it out there to see if anyone has any ideas of what might work in such a small size ring.

Does anyone know what kind of alarm clock is on the girls shelf at the end of "One for the angels"? I was looking and thought i found it (vintage Westclox) but it isn't 100% correct.

I have been working on the MARDI GRAS masks for a while. I have three of them sculpted and two molded and cast. They are not 100% accurate but closer than anything I have seen so far. If anyone's interested I can try to post some photos in a day or two.

Just thought I would share some pictures of the masks I have been working on.
I realize they are not as accurate as I would want but until something better comes along these will do for me. I still need to mold one and sculpt the last two.
I also need to figure out a better way to paint them.

Sorry if I should've posted the pics elsewhere or if the size is wrong or if I posted too many at once.
Also sorry about the picture quality.
And sorry about all the sorryies.
