The Thing 2011 Bust (Splitface)

Hi all,

It's my very first message here and I would like to share my sculpture in progress; The thing 2011. Scale is about 1/6.

It's sculpted with super sculpey.
Don't pay attention to my armature;in the begining, I wanted to sculpt the torso and made a full model, not a bust. But I realise that a bust is enough for now. The rest of the body will follow and I already think about a diorama.
I hope to bake it soon, make a mold, cast with resin and paint it.
Before that, I'm still wonder if I sculpt hair or if I add them after molding, with real hair or something similar (any advice or proposal is welcome).

Pics (sorry for the quality, I really need a new camera...);

Welcome!!!

Looks great...keep us updated on the progress!!

Thanks !

I'm just now finishing the back of the bust, still one ear and teeth to do and maybe I will bake it this evening or tomorrow. I've tryied sculpting hair but it doesn't look natural at all. So I will add hair after molding it.

I just hope I will not have to much crack with the sculpey during the baking progress.

Someone can tell me if my first subject here is in the correct section?
I post here because it's a sculpture, but I just look closely the forum and see that's the prop section here.

My sculpture is not really a prop, just a figure bust, so maybe I have to move to General model section.

Sorry, I'm new on this forum.

Hi,

Some news (I stoped a long time about sculpting and painting, because other projects)
Mold is done, some castings are done and I have painted a bust. It was a really long time I didn't paint anything, but I'm happy with the result.

I 've done a simple base also, with nameplate, but when I ask to my wife what she think about, she says it looks futuristic. Exactly the word I didn't want to hear (for that kind of bust).
I have absolutely no idea about the base, maybe some ice blocks or something like that. Any idea is welcome.

Next, sculpting the body (in progress).
