The Sword of omens materials

Beautifully done! Great work. The improvements are fantastic.
I think the new thickness at the base of the crossguard should
continue to the base of the eye of thundera. The curled "eyepiece"
thouls start at that thickness and then taper and thin as it goes.
As far as the thickness of the hilt here is a nice cap from the show.
Im getting very excited for the posibilities on this project. I think that
White anodized Aluminum will be the way to go. Frosted plexi will aslo
be an option for those that want it.

I have just talked with a few people and It seems that we will be able to make this bad boy light up as well so that is in there as well.

It seems we will likely be going with the White anodized blade with some airbrushed blue pearlescent clear to it to give it a more majestic look. Does that sound cool?

Here she is. Pretty much new everything. The only thing I kept from my original mesh was the handle. Everything else is all new geometry.

I know there are some two handle sword fans here, but it looks too long to me. I know that as a drawing in the cartoon it probably varied in length if he held it with one hand or 2 (darn non-real objects,) but it seems like it would be a more common size - like a hand & half, so that you could hold it with 2 hands but when you do you are holding the end peice as well. Otherwise it seems like it would just be way too long. It doesn't look that long in the screen cap above, and when he is holding it in the show one handed there looks to just be a few inches left (although most of the time I have seen screen caps of him holding the sword he is wearing the claw shield as well so his hand is bigger then normal),of course when he is carrying it in The Claw Shield on his hip it looks even shorter (maybe more of that pesky magic.) :)

The handle of the sword extends as does the blade. The handle needs to be long enough to accommodate two hands as it is more of a broadsword. This will also help to balance the blade
without a ridiculous pommel.. The handle as is the in the rendering is about 8 inches.

When I google images of Sword of Omens it doesn't look when he holds it like there is full room for another hand.
I guess in the end it will just be a matter of what you want. I never had the impression it was a 2-handed broadsword (not in the realm of braveheart or anything),it was nore of a knights sword, most of the time he used 1 hand, and when he looked through the handle (for sight beyond sight,) the sword was not very big in size

In the picture below from the show, even with him holding it forward, with the shield, if you look at the size of his arm to compaire it just doesn't look that big. His hair however, is HUGE!

Regardless, its not my project, so I will not ramble on farther. :)

Yep, I agree... Full-size blade, Two-hand handle... It make perfect sense (and looks better:D )

Great project BTW;)

Hmm i dont know if i should say this, but i know a swordsmith whos been designing a FUNCTIONAL sword of omens.... with functional carbon steel blade.... :)

I don't mind lol. I don't care if the sword we make is functional I just want it to be the most accurate real world rendition of the sword available. Just a fun prop.

Wow....just stumbled across this.....I love all the R&D going into it. Definitely longer handle and full size blade is the way to go. This and the Sword of Grayskull are two of my most wanted pieces.
