The Star-Lord/Peter Quill Sling Bag thread

Here is the bag I ordered. Looks like a good size and shape, and I'll be detailing the exterior to match more closely

I was thinking about getting that same bag. There's a few more I have in mind, but I'm going to try to make it myself as closely as I can before I go and buy an already made one. I have some fabric that might work, I'm only worried it won't be thick/heavy enough for the job. Then there's also time constraints, while I won't be needing my costume done until April of next year I'm about to start school so I want to get as much done as I can before things become too hectic.

That's the exact bag I ordered. It's a pretty decent little bag :thumbsup

I'm planning on using it as a base for it's structural integrity and then overlaying my leather and other fabrics.

I just took these pics for reference:

A point of observation regarding the exterior pocket; do you plan to remove that and do some applique over top of it with a screen printed panel involving the 'seams'? Also, checking this image, I *think* Peter Quill's bag looks to have a leather backing, (Can anyone confirm this by this photo?). I am also sourcing materials and may just make this bag from the ground up.

Yes, the outer pocket can easily be removed. Fabricating the bag from the ground up might be easier in the long run though.

So who is going to start a run, then? ;P I sure as hell can't sew.
If you're completely unable to see it won't help, but I plan to make a pattern for the bag. Not a super official one, but a basic one as a starting point. Not till after Halloween though.

If you're willing to share the pattern, well - not being able to do a thing has never stopped me from trying it. :V

I may do a run of just the screened fabric depending on how my samples turn out.

Are you trying sub-dye or screen printing? Looking at the fabric closely, it looks to be the latter. You can clearly see the pattern is raised above the fabric and has worn away in some places, just like on the jacket. (I'm having a screen printing frame specially made to do the jacket fabric but damn are they expensive when you need custom sizes.) The pattern also reflects the light differently than it would if it were dye soaked into the fabric.

Hey Guys this thread is amazing! cuz theres so much detail for a prop that is essential to Quill but barely gets any screen time lol Now I may be behind but has anyone noticed in some pics there is a 2nd strap running under his right arm. From what I've seen that second strap only shows up on the action figure and the Hot Toys version, but not in the screen caps from the movie...what gives? ideas anyone?

The extra strap connects to one of the D-rings on the back side.

I can't remember, but I think initially he has the extra strap when he first arrives on the deserted planet, after he gets the orb though and he is making his escape he is no longer wearing it.

great trenchcoat shot....im purchasing the leather one from Leathersclub....and modifying it.....

Is it just me or do the pictures of the Leathersclub jacket look identical to cosplaysky's jacket?
The only difference I can find is that Leatherclub describes it as real leather and there being a $20 price difference from Cosplaysky.
