The "Slave 1"

In the current MARVEL Bounty Hunter series, there's an issue coming up that has 4 different covers, with blueprints of different bounty hunter ships.

Each one has the name of the bounty hunter & the name of their ship. Boba Fett's is called 'Boba Fett's Firespray', which up to now has been the classification of the ship, but now seems to be the new name.

What do you all think of the name change to "Boba Fetts starship"?

Idiocy. Political correctness gone mad. The ship's name has nothing to do with real-world politics or sociology. Slavery exists in a galaxy far, far away, and Boba Fett IS A BAD GUY. People need to get a life and stop looking for "problems" they can solve.

At this point, I don't care about people who are constantly looking for things to be offended by, nor will I ever submit to them. Disney has already killed STAR WARS, and I have zero interest in the franchise, going forward. They can "fix" and vandalize whatever they want, and it doesn't matter. The real STAR WARS is still there, in the past, and nothing they do can change that. Not even the inevitable cash-grab remake of the original trilogy, with Leia Skywalker as the Strong Female Lead, gender-fluid Han solo, Pansexual Lando, and whatever other identity-politics-pandering horrors they'll inflict upon us.

I look forward to continuing to refer to the ship as Slave 1 and only as Slave 1. I also look forward to Disney and the rotting corpse of this once-great franchise burning to the ground.

Without Respect, We Reject.

Just wait for 20-30 years from now, when grandkids of millennials go to college, that term will suddenly become a trigger word. You'll be insensitive, intolerant, & the worst form of bigoted human if you don't cease & desist from using the word millennial because of what it may do to someone's psyche.

In that day, when the powers that be proactively cave to possible pressure that may or may not come, suddenly release the new model kit of the YT-1300 CORRELIAN FALCON, granted, most of us will be dead & gone, but, I wonder if our kids & grandkids are gonna bitch about it?

In ROTJ Oola may have been on a chain but she danced for Jabba, and the SE introduced more dancing girls (albeit not in chains).

I’ve wondered for years why Disney didn’t rebrand her as ‘Jabba’s Dancer Leia’ or ‘Dancing Leia’, or just simply ‘Jabba’s Palace Leia’.

The more merchandise they pump out with the rebranded name, the further they get from the old name and the sooner joe/jane public forget about the old name and move on.

Yep, this morning what you’ve posted is now being talked about on the socials, Boba Fett’s ship is now being called ‘The Firespray’

It doesn't take a political agenda just to get that ship renamed. This is a big corporation taking the path of least resistance to make money.

A parent might overhear their kid saying the word 'slave' while playing with SW toys. Or maybe the kid starts calling another kid the word, having no idea about the connotations. This is enough to make a big corp uncomfortable. They don't like getting into the news over stuff like this.

When you have millions of customers there are gonna be some very sensitive ones. It only takes one to cause a news story. The rest of the public is not guaranteed to all hear the story correctly. Etc.

It doesn't have to be LIKELY to happen. It only has to be POSSIBLE. That alone is enough to scare the P.R. department. Part of their job is to foresee these problems and prevent them.

Wait, what? Are there really troopers called "death troopers"? Isn't that kind of redundant? They're soldiers, their job is killing. One of the unfortunate side effects of killing is death.

They're basically black ops super-commandos, who are deployed to high-stakes, low profile missions. They're effectively the SEALs of the Empire.

I thought they were zombified troopers or something? I dunno. I guess I could ask Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter...

Anyway, I can't say I'm surprised to have it be Boba Fett's Firespray. It makes sense. He doesn't have to name it. Or maybe he re-named it. Or whatever. Who cares? It's just a dumb name that has, to my knowledge, literally never once been said on screen. Ever. It probably came from a meeting at Kenner. Are we also bent out of shape that "Hammerhead" is now an Ithorian? Or that Snaggletooth is....uh....whatever I'm sure they came up with because every single thing in the Star Wars universe has a name and a background (looking at you, Ice Cream Maker Guy -- I mean "Willrow Hood").

9/10 times this is for one purpose and one purpose only: to sell merch. Storybooks, coloring books, plush dolls, action figures, video games, whatever. That's all it's about: sales. If you're gonna maybe lose a customer because the thing says "Slave 1" on the box, then what do you do? You change what's on the box to some gibberish like "Firespray." Sounds cool to the kids, totally harmless to the parents, most of whom just know it as "That Boba Fett guy's spaceship."

Jabba’s Prisoner Leia?

Prisoner with Job Leia?

Since it was said onscreen in The Clone Wars, have Slave 1 be Jango's name for the ship, keeping the EU backstory. Then have Boba rename it later, perhaps when it gets repainted. Firespray Class was never said onscreen so it's fair game to be used as the new name.

No no, those are dead troopers. Easy mistake.

Considering Disney's LFL came up with them, I don't see why they would?
I remember there being back lash with products and books saying “death troopers” I was just curious if they got nerfed too
