"The Saint" (Val Kilmer) movie gadget knife....

I have been a "closet fan" of the 1997 movie "The Saint" with Val Kilmer as Simon...I am a gadget guy and always dreamed of his little knife that he uses throughout the film. You remember it? ...it was full of inventive James Bond type gadgets: blow torch, flashlight, compass, lock pick, etc.

Well I am the fortunate owner of one of the original HERO movie knives. It was screen used when Simon cuts his head open to gain access to Elizabeth Shue's apartment and her notes. *As a cool movie prop, I think this one is one of my favorites....

I was wondering if the Board would like a replica of the pocket-knife? I am NOT interested in the profit on my end, all I want is to be involved in the project and perhaps add some input into the guy making the replica...perhaps I could be paid with my own replica for providing the original prop ?

I think a basic mold of the piece could easily made. The original is metal and is quite solid.

To my knowledge, this is the only one in private hands...I understand there were 6 made for the Production and the other 5 are in Planet Hollywoods around the globe.

Board Interested ? Ideas ? Input ?

Cheers.

Wow, that's a very generous offer! I'm sure someone will take you up on this. Funny, I was thinking of starting a thread about this thing. I've never been able to find any pics of it anywhere. Too bad all the shiny gold has rubbed off, but still very cool none the less.

id love to get my hands on one. the movie got me into reading the book series. which is totally rad. id take simon templar over james bond in my corner.

I would give my pinky up for a replica of that knife...wonder if it something Rylo could do?

Please someone jump on this!

:love

Members,
I have asked "The Mantis" to head up this little project....David is well-known to me on the James Bond side and is always quite creative when it comes to props...I think he will have some good ideas to get "The Saint Knife Project" on track and be able to have replicas made to those interested parties.

Thanks for the interest and emails, Don.

PS: The photos of the other knives on display at Planet Hollywood are not coming up...would someone mind reposting them ? ...I think someone said they were on display at the PH Bar in Florida.

Yikes! I don't think I am heading anything up except for scouring the community to look for someone to replicate this...wish I knew someone off the bat that could do this, like a knife maker etc...and of course I will bump this thread to death!

We should change the thread title to "Looking for a prop maker to replicate Saint Knife"

OK, just emailed THREE prop makers that if they can't do it maybe they know who could....

It's a big board...hoping someone sees this thread soon! :cool

ive always loved this movie its great and the props are awesome from it too. i even pondered about buying the actual stealth suit he wore at the beginning of the film. i would def love a replica of that tool myself too!

I would give anything to have the original knife used in the movie. Are you willing to sell the knife to a dedicated fan of the movie? Otherwise a replica would be a must!

This is my favorite spy flick,,,, well, second to "Spys like Us"

This is a great prop and would love to see some version of is available.

What are we hoping to get out of a replica of this prop. I mean, do we want a static knife, a folding knife, a fx knife, a tiny digital camera? Do we want the handle to be unfinished cast metal, or chrome plated.

I don't think that making the blade and having the handle cast would be terribly difficult. If we want a chrome plated beauty prop it becomes more difficult, and if we want bits and pieces to be removable, more difficult still. Let's as a community make some decisions and them move forward from there.

Dan
