The Rise of Skywalker: Episode IX Graflex

He was recently working on them in a facebook post, so maybe another couple weeks?

Thanks!

This thread was a good read.

What's the general consensus on how to treat this version of Saber? I mean in regards to which shell to use. It's delightedly fun that the fan community resulted in a replica being used for an actual film prop.

With that in mind, the pursuit of vintage Graflex's for screen accurate builds was an attempt to try and build and pay homage to the original prop.

Now that Roman's (and maybe I'm confused about this) replicas were used to produce the newest version of Anakin's saber, is it better to get a "legitimate" replica to produce a more accurate prop piece? Or do you lean on the side of using a vintage Graflex to add to the line-up?

I think I fall in the category of using a Roman's piece to keep with the spirit of what I like about this whole crazy thing.

If this has been discussed before, sorry for rehashing old things but I was just curious how longtime fans on here feel.

Regardless, it's now time to hunt down a Gen. 2 Roman's flash, lol.

I'm going with Roman at least for the top, and seeing what Khal's plan is for the bottom. I also want to see some better stills of the bottom of the saber so we can see if the stamp is covered, or if the whole bottom section was custom made.

That's a good point about the bottom.

Is the current Gen 2 Replica on Roman's site the same one?

Curious.. wonder why production didn’t use romans bottom?

Sure looks like it’s his bottom, just with a plate or cap on the end?

Probably due to the imprinting is my guess.

Yes, romans gen2 is the same one production used

Romans “imperfections” is kind of hilarious to me

I ordered a “imperfection” flash off him, opened it and did a review. You can’t see the imperfections on screen.. and I spent more time hunting and trying to guess what and where the imperfection was.. I ended up not even posting the video because I looked like such a fool looking for them

The bottom tube is probably Roman's gen 2 as well.
Roman's Graflex has very shiny/reflective finish.

In this picture, you can see how the top and bottom both have the same shiny finish.

Here’s a shot of the bottom on one of the hero props on display at Lucasfilm, you can see how it’s a cap covering the Roman’s bottom tube.

So in the shots on the previous page (Tattoine, specifically) it definitely seems like a cover to me - I just hadn't paid attention before.

This is precisely the reason that many of us wanted to get Khal's kit, and then put it on a Romans. I was one of the ones strongly encouraging he still offered the kit, which he decided to re-add as a product.

Pretty sure Khal follows this thread. But my understanding is that he’ll be offering some of the kits complete with the upper half of his own Graflex, and then offer some which includes everything but the upper, all disassembled as he originally intended to do, so for those who want to use a Roman’s bottom could go for that option and just have a spare KR bottom left at the end of the build.

^^^^ Correct

Originally it was only full, mostly assembled kits, but some people poked him about that so he decided to offer partial kits as well.

Looking forward to see what he has to offer once it's up. Figured I would stop at three builds, but I guess I'll add the 4th too.
